Rae was woken up at around one am to hear her dad sneak through the door. She could tell he was trying to be quiet, but with all the panting he couldn't, so Rae just pretended to be asleep. She ended up dozing off thinking about Miguel, and what her dad had put him up to.

Rae later woke up to a note from her dad. She read it, confused.

'Hey. If you're reading this then who am I kidding, I'm probably definitely out. Will see you later. Dojo, 3? Yeah. Right. See you. Kick ass.'

It seemed like something Johnny had wrote, and was 100% not a forgery. Rae shrugged it off and got ready for school.

At lunch, Miguel once again sat with Rae, Demetri and Eli, although there was no point. The original trio conversed for the whole half hour, whilst Miguel dazed off, watching Sam.

Rae tried several times to get Miguel's attention. So did Eli and Demetri, but they all got nothing. They ended up leaving Miguel at the end of lunch, and he was late to study hall. He was mad, but it was funny because he was late to study hall.

On the way home after school, Miguel insisted that Rae come to the dojo with him. Rae denied and denied, until finally she got sick of being asked and just went with him. After all, it was the school dance and she wanted to see what Miguel would be wearing.

Miguel's lesson with Johnny on that day consisted of Miguel breaking boards and Johnny constantly pressuring him to try harder.

Once the draining hour was over, Miguel was getting ready for the dance. Rae watched in anticipation.

"I wish I could show my mom what I did to those boards, but if she knew where I was right now, she would kill me." Miguel sighed. He then proceeded to begin groaning.

"What's wrong with you?" Johnny asked.

"Yeah, are you alright?" Rae added.

"Oh, I'm fine. It's nothing." Miguel reassured the others.

"Put your costume on. I'm driving you to that dance. We're gonna pick up more students." Johnny ordered.

Rae looked confused. First of all, she wasn't ready for the dance. At this point, she didn't even want to go. She didn't have a costume. She was just planning on wearing black then improvising when she was there, until she remembered that a black shirt and black jeans (with an optional leather jacket) were the equivalent to a Danny Zuko costume.

As Rae contemplated her costume, Miguel pulled out his. It looked like some sort of blanket that had been passed down a family for centuries worth of generations.

"The hell is that?" Johnny remarked.

"It's my Halloween costume. My yaya made it. It started off as Deadpool. Then I think it was Spider-Man, and then it just kind of became some generic superhero." Miguel explained. Rae chuckled at this; Miguel's yaya seemed really nice.

Johnny began calling Miguel Poor-man, which Rae couldn't tell if Miguel liked it or not. She told her dad that she was heading home, and that she would see Miguel at the dance.

Once Rae had gotten her outfit on, she began walking to school. On the way there, she walked past the group of boys who her dad had attacked. She managed to avoid them, but the chances of her running into them that night were very high.

When Rae got to school, she saw Johnny parking his car, who honked his horn at her. Rae just chuckled to herself, ignored it and walked on.

Rae entered the school. She wandered around until she found Demetri and Eli. The trio chatted for a while - to Rae's surprise, neither of the boys could tell who she was dressed as. After several minutes of uninterrupted conversation, Miguel walked over, greeting them with a grin stretching on his face.

"Oh, skeleton. Classic." Demetri muttered upon seeing Miguel's costume.

The boys had a kindergarten-reminiscing argument for a good few minutes, until Rae walked off to greet Aisha.

"Hey!" Rae smiled at her friend.

"Hey."

"Your costume looks great!"

"Yeah, yours does too.." Aisha had a confused look plastered on her face.

"It's Danny Zuko." Rae stated.

"Oh, shit. Yeah. Love him."

"And you are...?"

"Sodium. It doesn't really work without the..." Aisha's eyes averted to Samantha LaRusso, who was walking past them.

"I like your costume." Sam smiled. Rae rolled her eyes; her family (well, Johnny) had an everlasting feud with the LaRussos.

"Thanks. Ditto. It doesn't really work without the chloride."

"I don't know. Sodium's pretty badass." Sam continued. "It's the silent killer."

Sam and Aisha began to chuckle. Rae felt like she was left out of whatever inside joke the two had.

"Uh.. I should get going. Demetri and all them are probably wondering where I've gone."

"Okay. See you, Rae!" Aisha waved.

"Yeah. See you." Sam added.

Rae approached the boys, who were arguing about costumes.

"I have to go the bathroom." Eli muttered.

"Me too." Demetri added. "That punch is going right through me."

The boys wandered off to the bathroom, leaving Rae to her own devices. She stayed in the corner, scrolling through instagram. She overheard people laughing but didn't think anything of it. After all, they were sociable teenagers at the end of the day. Rae was unbothered, at least until her phone began vibrating.

"Those fuckers." Rae muttered.

The notification was of something that Yasmine posted; a boomerang of Aisha getting snacks from the buffet table with the caption 'THE BUFFET TABLE IS UNDER ATTACK!!!!'

Rae stormed out of the room, offended and annoyed on behalf of Aisha.

"What's wrong honey?" Yasmine asked Rae patronisingly. Rae flipped her off, prompting a gasp from everyone.
