Leaning back in your cot, you let out a slow breath getting caught up in the Empire was always a bad idea. Too bad for you, your crew was a brewing ground for bad ideas, not that you said anything against it. A few too many glasses of booze made your mind all fuzzy and not understand what you were agreeing to. It was that kind of decision that landed you in a maximum-security prison.
You could always break out since they had not stuffed you in power-suppressing cuffs, but the sheer number of guards was enough to dissuade you. That alongside none of your crew knowing about your ability to wield ki, you stuck to blasters around them. You had a hard enough time as it was to gain their trust in the first place, going around with a mystery power would not have solved anything. As much as it pained you to hide, it was for the best.
You squirmed in the cuffs chaining you to the floor, trying to loosen them without having to rely on your powers. You had managed to warp the cuffs a little when a guard came about. With a stony face, the guard yanked you out of the cell by the cuffs. Your wrists were already rubbed raw from your attempts at breaking them; the sudden movement was not kind to your injuries. A sharp hiss escaped your throat as the guard continued dragging you along; you pulled back a little, pain shooting up your arms.
The guard turned to face you sharply, "Resist again and I will take you to the nearest flogging post."
You took in a deep gulp of air before the guard continued dragging you away. You were taken to the upper floors of the massive ship, distantly you remembered some of the hallways from when you snuck through them. Thinking now you hoped the rest of your crew had not gone through anything like you were no doubt about to.
A large room sprawled out before you, while you stated the guard forced you to your knees. Taking in more of the room you noticed an odd wall of fabric, it took you longer than you would admit to notice it was not a wall.
"King Cold, this is the prisoner you requested to see," The guard spoke.
A sharp jolt of fear raced down your back, as far as you knew the King had retired, and absconded to one of his planets to live out his days in peace. Something must have gone wrong for him to have come out here; it was impossible for you to even fathom what could have happened, you did not want to imagine.
The King turned slowly, his expression stern; your heart struggled to palpitate in your chest, "Is this the one responsible for the ruckus on my ship?"
"Yes, your Highness; along with their accomplices, sir," The guard bowed at the waist, keeping a firm grasp on your shoulder.
You did not like the expression that crossed the King's face, "Bring the rest in."
Your heart fell in your chest, you struggled to look over your shoulder as the door opened again. Your crew's eyes were wide as they were forced into the room, Bay, Finë, and Chavs made up your four-person crew. None of them thankfully looked harmed physically; that did nothing to ease your anxiety as you turned back to King Cold. Your eyes widened at the sight of energy balled up in the palm of his hand, you had no time to react when he shot the energy forth.
Bay let out a choked gasp, a gaping hole where her chest once was; you lept forward as King Cold lifted his hand again, and your power level shot up. Distantly you could hear the guard's scouter let out a loud warning beep. You used your arm to deflect the ki blast that the King shot at Finë, but you did not make it in time to save Chavs. King Cold raised a brow at your defensive form, you stood your ground under his scrutinizing gaze.
He scoffed, "You think you can do anything to stop me?"
You did not respond, focusing on regulating your energy after so many years without using it properly. Reaching out with your ki felt strange, there were so many energies all around the ship, some of them stronger than others. King Cold's energy was by far the strongest of the bunch, your breath stilled in your throat as you readied yourself.
King Cold shot off another ki blast, you struggled to deflect it, surging ki into your forearms. The ki burned through the clothes covering your arms, you winced in pain as you took a step back. There was no time to ready yourself as the King surged forward, you choked on your breath as his fist hit your stomach. Backing up—making sure to keep Finë behind you—you moved to fight back, throwing a ki-infused punch at him. He caught it without any extraneous effort; your heart fell. You were about to die.
A beep sounded from the console behind King Cold, "You are lucky I have other matters to attend to," His voice was low as he released your wrist, now adorned with a suppression cuff. You could see any chance of escape dissipate right in front of your eyes.
A/N: This will be publishing a new chapter every Saturday at 8 AM (unless something happens and I miss an update, but I will probably have an A/N if there is a change in schedule)
