Frieza did not bring up the guard beating you, so you did not either, it seemed she had been telling the truth. You knew you were acting differently around him, but you could not help it. The picture you had of him had shattered with his lack of words. So you tried your best to act like nothing was wrong, continuing to practice where you had left off.

The days continued as such in a repetitive cycle. You would wake up, eat, work, train with Frieza, eat again, and sleep. The conversation was stifled between you and him, the guard's words tearing a rift between you. That was until Frieza was the one to break the silence.

Frieza took a breath before he asked a question, "What is your goal?"

"Why do you ask?" He did not ask questions out of the blue like that, at least to you.

"Just answer the question."

"I have not really thought about it... I guess if I had to put it into words I would say—I do not want to be weak—If I am weak then more people I love will die and there will be nothing I can do to stop it," Images of Finë and the face of your mother crossed your mind. Hoping to shift the focus you asked a question of your own, "What is your goal?"

Frieza's mood instantly soured, "I see no reason to disclose that information to you."

"I answered yours."

"...I have someone I need to beat, that filthy Saiyan."

Your interest peaked, having heard rumors of the now-almost extinct species, "What happened?"

"That monkey bested me, he is the reason I have this cybernetic body in the first place."

"What happened to all of them—the Saiyans I mean?"

Frieza blinked at you, "Their planet was blown to smithereens, by yours truly."

"So are you even now?"

"What?"

You toyed with your hands nervously, "Well what the Saiyan did to you was a sort of payback for what you did to him—or his people I guess."

"Irrelevant, I am going to kill that monkey for how he humiliated me."

"What is going to stop someone else who cares for him to go after you? Is the revenge worth all the work you would have to put in to keep it?"

Freiza did not have a response for you, he stared mouth slightly agape.

Stealing your resolve you continued, "What would the point be? What kind of life is that? Is that the one you want to lead? A perpetual circle of revenge after revenge after revenge?"

Frieza stood up, his defenses raised as he shouted, "Of course, it is worth it! What else is there?!"

"Happiness maybe."

Turning on his heel Frieza left in a huff, emotions swirling around him in a thick cloud. You stayed seated as you watched him storm off, not knowing if maybe you overstepped and pushed a little too hard.
