Shinobu woke up early that morning, and left the house to get mail from the postal office. Mr. Kocho had accidentally stopped their mail flow on an unconfirmed idea that he was going on a business trip.
Thinking back on the incident, she laughed lightly.
"This isn't funny, you know!"
A pissed mailman walked past her at the counter, carrying a basket full of letters.
"Oh! Sorry, sorry, I wasn't laughing at you," she smiled. "Where's all that going?"
The mailman scratched his head.
"We got a sudden flood of mail for this one person...a Tokitō-san. You know him, perhaps?"
Shinobu's eyes twinkled. "Yes of course! If you'd like, I can take those to the family, I live close by. Just give me my mail too, please."
"Hmm...I guess, if you want." the mailman grumbled.
"But don't be acting like I made you do it."
"Of course not!" She giggled, taking the basket from him, as well as her mail stacked on top.
"Have a nice day," she said before she walked out.
Shinobu left her mail on the kitchen table, and left the house again.
I have to hurry if I want to eat something and make it in time for class.
She ran up the steps leading to the Tokitōs' front porch and rang the doorbell.
The twins' Mother answered the door.
"Good morning Shinobu! What brings you here so early?"
"Good morning Mrs. Tokitō! I brought you a bunch of mail, one of the mailmen was complaining about it, so I took it to you instead."
"Ahh..." the woman's eyes widened when she saw the large amount of mail.
"Thank you so much, that was very kind of you. Come in, come in, have breakfast with us," she said, inviting Shinobu inside.
Muichirō rubbed his eyes. He thought he heard a familiar voice.
"Muichirō-kun! Your Mama said it's time to get out of bed,"
Shinobu chirped.
"Shinobu-san...why are you here so early in the morning?"
"I came with a ton of mail, and your Mama said I can stay for breakfast before I head off to school. Muichirō-kun, when will you and Yuichirō go back to school? We miss you two, you know."
Muichirō dragged himself out of bed. "I don't know. I...don't feel like I'll be able to anytime soon."
"Well, no pressure. I was just wondering," Shinobu smiled, and ran off to the kitchen.
The boy stumbled to the bathroom, and brushed his teeth, after which he splashed water on his face. Then he made his way to the breakfast table.
"Good morning, Muichirō," Father greeted him.
"Good morning."
"Your Mama said you have a Doctor's appointment earlier today, at 8:30, then your therapist. Eat quickly and get ready, okay?"
Muichirō nodded.
Shinobu left the table, and bowed, having finished her breakfast.
"Thank you for the meal! I'll be on my way now!"
The family waved as she skipped out the door.
"Study hard!" Father called after her.
"Oh hush, don't stress the girl," Mother scolded him playfully.
