CHAPTER FIVE

Early in the morning I was woken up by a loud bell, I opened my eyes wide open and stayed in bed for a few more minutes, as I sat up to start preparing for the day I realised everyone was still asleep.
"Was I dreaming "
I opened the curtains to check, to my surprise it was morning, I quickly rushed to wake up Lewisa, who was about to fall off the bed, and continued to go on and wake up khuzipa and Josephine who are my other roomates.
"Thank you I knew I would over sleep with all that dancing and fun that happened yesterday " said Josephine
"Speaking of yesterday, were did you go? I couldn't find you around Lucy ,did something happen to you? " asked Lewisa.
No nothing happened to me, I just came back to sleep early I was really tired.
"Are you sure? asked Lewisa, to me it looks like there's something that happened that you are not telling me "
In my thoughts I began to ask myself, did Lewisa follow me behind? Did she see what happened between me and Mr Likando? Should I open up to her ? I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't hear anything that Lewisa said,
"Lucy I have been asking you the same question over and over and you seem to be lost, what's wrong? "
Will talk about it later Lewisa, let's head to class for now.
"Okay if you say so madam, by the way our first class is math with Mr Likando, I bet you are excited about it, ain't you? "
Why should I be excited about it Lewisa, please let's not exchange words now, we are running late let's go.
I was so nervous, I didn't know what to expect or do in Mr Likandos class after what happened between us yesterday, we walked in silence with Lewisa neither of us altered a word to the other. When we reached the classroom door it was closed, I looked at my wrist watch, we were late by five minutes.
Lewisa knocked on the door and a voice from inside shoulted "come in" upon entering, Mr Likando asked us to stand in front of of the class.
" Why are you late for class ladies? can you both give me reasons as to why you are late for class" asked Mr Likando.
"I fell off the bed this morning whilst in my sleep sir, so I was unable to get ready for class in time" said Lewisa
"Well that's unfortunate Lewisa please see the nurse immediately after this class"
"I will surely do sir "
"You can take your seat Lewisa "
"Thank you Sir"
Wow Lewisa cheated, I just saved this girl from falling this morning as I thought to myself what to tell Mr Likando
"Lucy, what are your reasons for coming late for class"
I didn't have any , nothing was coming to my mind, I couldn't even come up with a simple lie, I stood there facing the floor, counting the tiles in the room.
"Unfortunately our friend Lucy doesn't have a reason for been late, she just decided to be late and walk to class like a princess, isn't it Lucy? "
The entire class bursted out into laughing, I felt embarrassed and silly.
"Take your seat Lucy , enough with the laughing let's get down into business " said Mr Likando.
I went and sat in the back of the classroom as the front seats were all taken up, I could see Mr Likandos mouth moving, but my concentration was gone, I got disturbed with his words and the class laughing at me.
"Lucy, Lucy " called out Mr Likando repeatedly.
I didn't hear him call, till he walked up to me, that's when I felt his presence because of his strong cologne.
"Are you with us in class madam " asked Mr Likando
Yes I am sir, I just got lost in my thoughts for a while there.
He bended over closer to me and said
"See me immediately after all your classes today "
Alright sir
He immediately walked away and dismissed us to prepare for our next class, all my other classes classes went well as I brushed off everything that happened in math class.
Over lunch I remained behind and sat in class alone to go through the math I didn't understand.
"Hey"
I looked up, to my surprise it was Lewisa, in my mind I knew she just came here to ask about about Likando.
"Hey,take a seat,"
"You don't look okay Lucy, you look troubled, you know you can talk to me, what's happening"
I didn't answer I sat in silence wondering whether or not I can trust Lewisa,maybe I should tell her it will help me cope with it.
"Something happened yesterday at Hall " I said whilst clearing my throat.
"What happened " she said with eager eyes.
I started to narrate to her how everything happened so fast in a blink of an eye, with tears in my eyes that I kept holding back, she didn't respond she just kept stirring at me and that made me feel more guilty and uncomfortable. After a long break of silence she finally spoke,
"Mr Likando, how Lucy, do you know that he doesn't associate himself with any pupil, he is feared around here, many respect him and they way he carries himself nobody dares to disrespect him or be funny around him, how did you and him do all that in just these few days moreover you are new around here.
I don't know what happened for us to get here Lewisa, but all I know is that he likes me just like I like him" I said it with a heavy heart and mixed feelings.
"You can't be serious, stop been naive Lucy, clearly now I can see you luck experience, his a big man and you are too young for him, you are better off finding someone of your age.
Don't start assuming yet, whatever happened could have just been a mistake
"I hope its a mistake, because clearly you know nothing about Mr Likando, neither you or I know anything about that man, what if his married or perhaps has kids your age your age.
Don't say that that's impossible, if that were the case, you guys who have been at this school for long would have known that, don't be negative were it isn't necessarily
"Men lie Lucy and use you and leave don't fall into that trap "
Lewisa, have you been used before by a man, you are speaking as if you've been used before by a man and you've been negative ever since Likando and I first saw each other, do you also like him.
"I don't like him, am just looking out for you I have seen these things at this school before and it doesn't end well "
Since you don't like him good then the
"Okay before you get into anything with him please let's find out more about him around "
Alright that I am up for
" I now see why you were so uncomfortable in class today "
Just get over it please
" this can affect your education, can't you see that, open your eyes and focus, this man is a distraction"
If am getting into this then I surely know what am getting into and am ready for it, I was unsure at first bit now after talking to you am ready for it all.
"Can you hear yourself right now, you are making no sense at all "
Am under a love spell, I say whilst laughing out loud, I can see that Lewisa is irritated at this point, she stands up and says
"Let's go have our lunch"
Yeah let's go darling, I say mockingly with a smile.
