Alistair McClair
The past few days have been on my mind, maybe too much time. I kept inspecting every minute- second- of my time with Calvin Fischer. From the moment I found him half-asleep on the bus stop, to the moment I dropped him off at his house, those hours may have changed something in me.
I always thought I was straight. It made no sense, now that I think about it, because I was never attracted to women. They never did anything for me. Some were great friends, some were horrible. But that's the same with men I've met.
They're either amazing people, or scumbags of the earth.
Calvin is a different story. Something just attracts me. I await his texts and I long for him to smile in my direction.
Needless to say, I've been doing my own personal research. I've checked online forums for men who were similar to me- that is, men who thought they were straight their entire lives only to discover the underlying feelings that emerged late in life.
From my research, many times, these men either didn't have the opportunity to spend time with men or they were suppressed. I'm glad to say that my case wasn't the latter. Rather, I had always dated women and never delved into men.
Whether it's because I was constantly told to date a woman, or perhaps because all TV shows and movies I watched were hetero couples, I never got with a man. It wasn't until a month ago that Calvin was matched with me.
Since then, something I've noticed is that I don't hate the idea of us dating. Sure, it's still strange to say that he's my boyfriend. And I'm not used to having someone that wants to get close to me.
Though, I can definitely get used to it.
During that week, Meredith entered my office to give me a briefing of some current events.
"Something's up with you." She said, as she leaned forward in her seat to inspect me better.
"New regiment, maybe." I replied. She glared her eyes at me.
"No, not that." She replied. "You kinda have like... a glow."
Her face began to lighten up in excitement. Her eyes widened as she held her hand forward and pointed at me.
"Don't tell me: You and Calvin did it!" She said.
On point, the door opened and Kostas entered my office, with him also sprouting a gleeful smile on his face.
"You and Calvin fucked?" He said loudly.
I rubbed my temples. "Am I going to have to lock my office?" I asked myself. Kostas took a seat next to Meredith.
