I was awoken by a sudden movement on my bed. It kept repeating over and over again, shaking me in my sleep. I groaned loudly and reached to my side.

“Calvin…” I grunted. I didn’t feel him. Instead, my hands grabbed some small ankles. “Huh?” I said. I looked and saw a small child giggling.

The child had brown hair, similar to Calvin’s. But he also had my light blue eyes. A large smile was plastered on his face as he chuckled loudly.

“Papa! Wake up! It’s Pancake Day!” The child said. I let go of his ankle, confused about where this child came from. The child got off the bed and ran out the room. I sat up quickly and scanned the room.

The first thing that was different was that the room was a mess. This is odd, as I always keep everything neat. There were children’s toys and clothes scattered on the floor.

“The fuck…?” I muttered. I slipped on my slippers and exited the room. The hallway looked the same. I took in my surroundings and knew I was in the home that I had bought for Calvin.

A smell of something sweet attracted me and led me to the kitchen. Before I turned the corner to the kitchen, there was a large portrait on the wall that had me, Calvin, and the child smiling together.

“Sit and eat your pancakes! Don’t forget what today also is.” I heard Calvin said.

“Pancake and Clean-Up Day!” There was that child again. I turned the corner and saw that Calvin was at the stove cooking while the child was on a chair eating.

“Morning, sweetie!” Calvin said. He walked up to me and placed a kiss on my cheek. I returned the gesture while still keeping an eye on the kid.

“Good… morning.” I replied.

“What’s wrong? You look pale. Did you find out some grim news?” Calvin jokingly said as he returned to the stove. “Pancakes are done. Eat up. We need our energy to clean today.”

I took a glance around the house and saw it was indeed messy. I began to get a headache just by looking at the mess. Calvin set up a plate for me and I sat next to the kid.

My eyes were looking at the kid as he happily ate away at his food. Something about just watching him, for some reason, brought a smile to my face. I didn’t know anything about who this was, but I had a weird natural instinct to believe this was my kid.

“Are they good?” Calvin asked.

“The best.” Me and the kid said at the same time.

“He really does take after you.” Calvin giggled and sat to join us. I watched Calvin and the kid… my son… talk together playfully.

“Where’s Luna?” I asked.

“In her home.” He said. I remembered the miniature home that I had gotten for her. I hope she’s safe and away from this mess.
