Giyuu's Pov💙🌊:
I heard the smaller Rengoku point out that the fireworks were about to begin, and everyone went silent.
We all looked up into the night, and a few seconds later, fireworks were exploding across the sky.
It was amazing. A spectacular sight, one that I'd never forget.
"Now that's what I call flashy!" whispered Uzui, I think that was his name.
"Indeed, best buddy!" agreed Rengoku Kyojuro.
"Isn't it beautiful..." I murmured to Mitsuri.
"I know, right." she whispered back. "You'll never be able to see it enough."
"Aren't they just wonderful, Hakuji?" I heard someone ask in the distance.
"Yes. Yes they are, dear." another voice responded.
Huh. I wonder who they were. Must be nice couple, I thought.
Everyone continued quietly and peacefully looking up at the starry sky above us, fireworks blasting.
A few minutes later was the grand finale, where it was bright enough that it looked like someone shined a giant flashlight everywhere.
My eyes were lit up with wonder, admiring every last firework, until they were all gone.
Mitsuri shook me after the last firework exploded, with an excited look on her face.
"Wasn't that amazing, Giyuu!" she squealed.
"Yes... it was lovely." I said subconsciously.
It really was though. Even after everyone was starting to get ready to leave, my mind was still stuck on the fireworks.
Maybe, next year, I can see them again with someone special...
Shinobu's PoV💜🦋:
Everyone was looking up at the sky enjoying the fireworks.
I, on the other hand, was looking at something else.
Or, rather someone else.
I saw Tomioka looking up into the night, with an entranced look in her eyes.
Wow. She looks really pretty. whispered the subconscious part of my brain.
I just chose to ignore it, admiring her from afar.
I felt a sudden tap on my shoulder, and turning around I saw Kyojuro.
"Shinobu!" he whisper-shouted. "Tomioka isn't the fireworks! The fireworks are up there!"
He grabbed my head and pivoted it so that I was facing the sky.
"Careful, or next time you miss them! But I guess they're both eye catching, so I can see where you got lost!" He went back to sitting with his younger brother.
No one asked you. I thought bitterly, and instantly taking back my words.
What was wrong with me? Kyojuro's my friend! Why did I feel jealous?
Shinobu, stop. You're being weird. I thought to myself. Kyojuro didn't do anything wrong. You're just being paranoid. But... over what?
I shook the odd feeling away, focusing my attention back to the fireworks.
Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it will vanish away soon. I might just be catching a fever or something.
The fireworks were all done, and everyone was murmuring excitedly to one another.
"Wasn't that awesome, Nemi!" shouted Genya.
"Flashy! If only it were longer!" said Tengen.
"It was wonderful, Lord Tengen" replied one of his girlfriends.
Voices filled the air, as I started to get up from my spot.
Well... now what? I wondered.
The couples were being all lovey-dovey together, Kyojuro and Senjuro were talking together, and Genya was with the Tokitos.
Tengen was right. Those fireworks should have been longer.
Because now I was just by myself. Again. With no one to talk to.
An idea popped into my head.
Well, I thought. Even if there's no one to talk to, there is someone I can annoy.
I turned my head towards Tomioka, and began making my way over to her.
I found her beginning to leave the field, and surprised her with my voice.
"Well, if it isn't the loner Tomioka, already leaving so soon?" I said.
I saw her flinch and jump a few inches into the air, and I forced myself not to laugh.
"You know, I haven't known you for that long, and I can already tell that no one must like you!" I told her.
She didn't say anything for a while. "I'm not disliked." she said finally.
"Oh, sure, the loner Tomioka all by herself, already planning on leaving everyone! Are you sure you're 'not disliked'?"
"You're by yourself, too." she pointed out.
I didn't know how to respond to that. She had a point, though.
"You aren't answering my question, Tomioka!" I said.
"Just because I'm leaving doesn't mean I'm disliked..." she mumbled.
"But what will poor Kanroji think when she finds out you're gone?" I shot back at her.
She stayed silent. "Fine, you win, I'll stay." she muttered slowly.
I put my hand up to my ear and pretended I couldn't hear her. "What was that, Tomioka? I couldn't hear your shallow mumbling, please do speak up."
"I said I'll stay." she said firmly, and louder than I expected her to.
My eyes quickly widened, but I fixed my face to look normal again.
"Wow, the lonely Tomioka is so desperate to be my friend! I guess I'll have to take pity on you again, like last time." I teased.
For the next half an hour, Tomioka dealt with my teasing and annoyance, but unlike other people, she didn't try to shoo me away or call me an annoying insect an just leave.
I mean, sure, she was pretty bothered, but she mostly just kind of rolled along with it, and only then did she leave.
Hmm. That was fun. I thought. Can't wait to annoy her next time.
Haur haur haur. Wanna see a magic trick? Poof, I disappeared for two weeks and then came back with a shitty and cringe chapter. I swear, I am trying to get this book done, and trying to make it actually good too. Hoping I don't DiSaPpEaR again or something,
see you next time!
