Giyuu's PoV💙🌊:
My parents.
They were finally here!
"Hey! Mom! Dad! How have you been?" I yelled, rushing pass Kocho.
They laughed. "Great!" my mother said. "Oh!" she gestured at Kocho. "Is that your boyfriend? My my, he's so handsome!" she nudged me with her elbow.
"Huh!? What!? No!" I exclaimed. "No way, not in any universe! He is a literal INSECT."
My father studied him for a bit. "Hmm." he mumbled quietly. "I can see the resemblance."
"See! That's what I'm trying to say!"
"Uh, Tomioka," Kocho began, and then stopped. "Ahem. Uh, hmm... Oh! I know! Mini-Tomioka!" he snapped his fingers, thinking out loud.
My mother giggled a lot.
"Ahem. Mini-Tomioka, I think you mean butterfly?" he spread out his arms dramatically.
I shook my head. "No. I mean flying cockroach."
My mother started laughing even louder, and even my father was hiding a smile.
Kocho sighed. "Ah, oh well. Welp! It's time for me to go now. Nice to meet you all, and goodbye! Don't want to interrupt your little family reunion!"
My mother laughed. "Ah, well. See you around, young man! Have fun with your friends!"
Kocho shrugged and walked off, waving at me. "Bye mini-Tomioka!" he called out.
I sighed, while my mother pulled me to the entrance of the house. "Come on, Giyuu! Hopefully you didn't almost burn down the house this time!" Tsutako skipped happily after us, while my father walked behind her.
This 'outta be good. I thought.
My mother clapped her hands to her face. "Oooh! What a lovely house so far! Mind giving your parents a tour?" she asked.
Tsutako laughed. "Sure! Follow us!" she pointed ahead, marching towards the kitchen.
After a little while of showing them the house, we led them to the dining room, where we sat them down at the table.
Me and Tsutako went to the kitchen, out of earshot of our parents.
"Oh, Tsutako, I really hope the food will taste good! Not like last time..." I shuddered. Tsutako laughed. "Relax, little sis! It's gonna' be great! Know why? Because we combined our efforts! We used each other's strengths and weaknessess, and got a hold on it! We're awesome!"
I sighed. "Not sure if it made it better or worse, though."
She elbowed me in the side. "Geez, Giyuu! Have a little faith! Teamwork makes the dreamwork! We got this!"
I looked at her. "Umm, if you say so." We covered the tops of the bowls and plate with cloth, keeping them warm and hidden, and headed to the dining room, with our parents waiting for us.
"And here is your delicious meal, dear honored guests!" Tsutako said as she entered the room holding the food.
Our mother grinned. "Oooh! I wonder what it is!" she sighed happily. "Oooh, it smells so good!"
Tsutako gave me a sideways glance, grinning as if to say, See? I told you this would work!
"We have three dishes, and then a surprise! Enjoy!" she announced.
We uncovered the bowls and plate, revealing three things: beef skewers, tempura, and udon.
Tsutako grinned, looking pleased with herself, while I watched our parents dig in.
After eating, we were all sitting in the guest room, talking to each other about new situations and what's happened recently. Well, mainly mother and Tsutako. Me and father mostly just sat and listened.
"So, have you made any new friends yet, Giyuu?" Mother asked, looking at me. "I mean, besides that young man we met a little while ago? Hmm?"
I shrugged. "Eh. Kinda. There's this girl named Kanroji, and sometimes we hang out with her friends. She's really nice to me."
Mother looked at me patiently. After a few more seconds of awkward waiting, I finally asked, "What is it?"
She looked at me. "Is that it?" she asked. "Alright, then. Well, do you ever miss that young boy, Sabito? Or Makomo, she was so sweet! I really liked that girl."
"Yeah." I admitted. Another long pause. After giving up, seeing that I wouldn't talk much more, she went back to interrogating Tsutako, who got the brunt of the questions.
Sabito. Makomo. I really do miss them. I thought to myself. I hope their doing well, though. Hm, I should call them tonight. Knowing them, they're probably going to want an update on every little thing that's happened so far.
I sighed. It hasn't even been that long since I got here. I mean, seriously. Does everyone expect something life-changing to happen in the span of a few months?
Apparently, so.
I looked around at my family. I was happy with them, more then they might think. Even if I don't exactly show much affection to people, I really do hope they know how much they mean to me.
I made a small smile. My father noticed, and returned a slight smile. Then we both turned to see Mother and Tsutako looking at us, their mouths agape. It was always a rare occasion when one of us smiled, but both of us at the same time? That almost never happened. This was a rare sighting, indeed.
"Aww, I knew it!" said Mother cheerfully. "You two really are just giant softies!"
The rest of the night echoed with the sounds of laugher, as the family basked in each other's company and warmth.
