"Cletus Kasady escapes Ravencroft"
The young photographer stared at the headline on his phone with fear, having heard the name from sources dear to his heart
The things this man did to his victims, more than 40 people lost to his urges
He couldn't imagine the courage needed by his girlfriend's father to capture him
He remembered the Bugle publishing news of his capture about three months ago, but how he had broken out? How is that even possible?
"PARKER!"
The commanding voice of his boss forced him to look up from his phone as one John Jonah Jameson entered the office
Jameson: These kids and their phones, I swear
Peter locked the device and stood straight as he cleared his throat
Peter: S-Sorry sir, you called?
The man grunted before he picked up his coat from the rack and answered
Jameson: Yes, get ready. I'm pairing you with Fosswell to cover the Fisk controversy later today
But hearing this proved disheartening to him. They had the power to tell the news, and this was how it was being used? In comparison, it felt...redundant
Peter: The Fisk controversy...?
The slight disappointment in his voice did not go unnoticed by the older man, who promptly turned to scowl at him
Jameson: What? Not important enough to you? You know of anything more important than this right now? Huh?
Peter's eyes went wide at this, and he quickly lifted his hands in surrender
Peter: N-No sir, I just...
He then took out his phone and showed his boss the news of Kletus' escape
Peter: Cletus Kasady escaped the Ravencroft Institute a few days ago, and we don--
Jameson: You want to talk about a monster? It took MONTHS of tedious procedures to get Fisk behind bars, and his freedom is already being discussed! If that isn't an atrocity, I don't know what is
A brief silence took over, that's when Jameson noticed the young man was still in the office
Jameson: What are you waiting for, Christmas?! Move!
He shoved Peter out, much to the amusement of his secretary and the journalist waiting for him
Betty: Come on Pete, you know how he is
Fosswell: Hey, it could've been worse. One time he literally kicked me out
Peter could only sigh. So much for that conversation
___
As expected, the coverage of the Fisk incident was beyond tedious, and they had to keep the questions to something incredibly tame that basically revealed nothing
Probably as to avoid getting on the man's bad side, but still, Peter felt like he was wasting his time with it
That same feeling stayed with him a few hours later when he found himself at the table with the Stacys. This had become a sort of tradition for them shortly after Peter's aunt passed away
Peter: And then he shoved me out of the office
This got a chuckle from both of them. George came to the table shortly after with a plate of his own and sat down
