This is an omegaverse novel, and before I begin I will give a brief context of what an omegaverse novel is for new readers, providing some unique specifics of my work.
In the omegaverse there are 3 genders in addition to the two sexes common in humans, these are:
- Alphas. The dominant in this world, the highest in the hierarchy, are usually characterized by occupying positions of power, even if they are not rich, by instinct they are seen as leaders and command respect. Their pheromones are strong and only attract omegas, they tend to disgust or frighten other betas and alphas, the stronger the pheromones of an alpha the more powerful they are considered. Physically they are taller and stronger than betas, with the particularity of having a widening in their genitals, which serves to knot an omega at the time of sexual intercourse.
- Betas. They are common human beings, they do not have pheromones, but they can slightly perceive those coming from alphas or omegas, feeling dominated by alphas and attracted by omegas. They have no pheromone-producing glands, so they cannot bond with alphas or omegas, but they can have normal relationships and procreate offspring with them.
- Omegas. They are the lowest link in the hierarchy, seen as weak and useless to society beyond giving offspring to alphas and betas, they have almost no rights. What makes them different is that both males and females can gestate a living being, being desired since only the omega can give birth to an alpha baby. They are characterized by having small and curvaceous bodies, with pleasant scents, being more delicate and weaker than common humans.
And within these 3 genera there are two subclasses.
- Recessives. Alphas and omegas that have problems in their glands, which does not allow them to excrete pheromones in a normal way, altering their heat periods and other characteristics of their gender, turning them into something closer to a beta.
- Dominants. Alphas and omegas that have much stronger pheromones than others of their own gender, something much more appreciated by alphas, since in their hierarchy those with the strongest pheromones are considered the superior ones, so a dominant is above any common alpha. However there is one last detail that makes them special, since like alphas that can only be born from the union of an omega with an alpha or beta, dominants can only be born if one of their parents is also dominant, making the omegas and alphas of this sub genus the most appreciated in society.
After clarifying the hierarchies and the different types of genres, I will only give a few last definitions of terms that will be used in the story.
- Pheromones. A hormone-like substance secreted from a gland at the back of the backs of the necks of alphas and omegas, it is this gland that develops the special characteristics of each gender. The pheromones of the omegas have pleasant odors that seek to attract others, while the pheromones of the alphas have a control purpose, with strong scents that in large quantities can be unbearable. They begin to be secreted during childhood, but alphas and omegas perceive them from the beginning of their adolescence (although this is not a strict rule, especially when it comes to intended partners, they can sense their partners from a very young age).
- Estrus. Period in which omegas and alphas are dominated by their deepest instincts, losing control and desperately looking for a partner to try to procreate. The time between the jealousy of both genders varies slightly, since the alphas suffer these events only a few times during the year, while the omegas have a period of heat every month, being very painful for both. For the time in which the story takes place, the inhibitors are just being created by the pharmaceutical companies, so they will not be used by any character.
- Bond. A bond that is created between an omega and an alpha when they bite each other's necks on their glands, leaving a lifelong mark on the glands, thus preventing both the omega and the alpha from reacting to the pheromones of any other human, and only having eyes for their mates. The bond can be established by both an alpha and an omega, but most commonly it is the alphas who bite their omegas.
- Fated. A love chosen by destiny, are the couples with perfect compatibility of an alpha or an omega, they can be betas, but usually it is an exclusive relationship of the above mentioned, they recognize each other by the smell of their pheromones, and become inseparable, many call it as a "love predetermined by destiny", the scientific basis of this strange relationship is unknown, and it is not very common that an alpha or omega find their destinies, making these a kind of -legend- among humans.
Speaking specifically of the environment within the book, we portray a society dominated by the alphas and betas, where the omegas have no rights, neither to inheritance nor to own property, nor to have their own money or work, seeing them in many cases as mere "objects". While the two powerful families fight for control of the largest city in the country, in the midst of an unstable moment due to the war between the Gold and the Howking.
And finally, the story takes place in the late 1990s, when the technological revolution was just beginning, and the world was in a time of change.
I hope you enjoy my first english story, thanks for reading.

RomanceWhat is an omega without an alpha? In the society in which I live, omegas have no rights, and therefore no obligations. This can be seen as an advantage for some, but as hell for others. An omega without the protection of an alpha is nothing at all...
