Just as my alpha promised, the next morning another doctor came in, an amble young beta, who from the start I liked, when on entering my room with Theo he tripped over his own feet and almost fell to the floor.
"Dr. Albert, are you all right?" Asked Theo next to me on the bed, trying to get up to go help the new doctor.
"Don't worry Mr. Gold, I'm fine" Replied the nice beta boy, picking up some of his things from the floor to come over to me on the bed.
I said nothing, clinging tightly to Theo as I laughed softly, still somewhat wary of that doctor who approached us shyly, rather embarrassed that we'd seen him make a fool of himself when he entered the room.
"I will bring the son of one of my father's associates to check you, I was told he is a good doctor, his name is Connor and he is a beta of the Albert family" Theo told me the night before, when he told me that another doctor would come to check me.
"You don't look so happy..." I whispered, looking at his unhappy face.
"My father heard that I was looking for a new doctor, so he asked me to hire his friend's inexperienced son, I don't know if it's appropriate for a first-time doctor to treat you or our puppy."
"It can't be too bad if he managed to become a doctor, can it? I'm sure he'll be fine."
Despite my attempts to calm Theo down, he remained very upset for the rest of the night, barely containing his bad mood as he lay in bed with me. I think Theo is a bit territorial when it comes to those who get close to me or our puppy, I find him sweet, but sometimes... He's a little scary.
Returning to the present day, I could see how the doctor left his briefcase beside the bed, and shakily extended one of his hands in Theo's direction, as we could all notice this strange tense atmosphere in the room, trying to calm things down a bit when they both greeted each other with a cordial handshake.
Theo and I found ourselves in the same manner as the other evening in our bed, both lying together, as we let the doctor finish getting ready.
"Well I... I'm Dr. Albert, but you can call me Connor, there's no need for such formality" he said while putting on some white latex gloves: "It's a pleasure to have you as my first patient, I'm very excited."
"Yes, I can see that..." replied Theo, in the same annoyed and somewhat aggressive manner.
I again smiled, as it is not normal to see my alpha angry, even his pheromones smell stronger... Like they are spicy mint, scary, but still nice.
Noticing again the tension in the room, and perhaps a little frightened by Theo's attitude, the doctor carefully lifts my clothes, starting to touch my abdomen and bringing some things from his briefcase close to my skin.
"Well, I don't notice any abnormalities in the fetus, but soon they will have to go to my father's hospital for an ultrasound, they will also be able to know the sex of the baby" Said the doctor, still looking at my abdomen.
"Can we tell if it's an alpha or a beta?" I asked timidly.
"No, we can only find out after the birth, the most common is to do it with a blood test, although some parents prefer to wait a little before knowing..."
"I want to know as soon as possible" I insist.
"Okay, then I will start to make arrangements for an immediate examination after the birth at the hospital."
Out of the corner of my eye I look at Theo, who looks a little surprised by my request, but says nothing about it, still hugging me on the bed.
And although he doesn't ask me questions, I am clear about why I want my son to be an alpha or a beta... I don't want him to be an omega under any circumstances, I don't want him to be like me.
