Yap: Do what you must. I'm done here.
With Laura in his arms, Yap began to walk away from the arena, leaving behind a stunned audience, instructors, and a lingering sense of unease.
Laura slowly opened her eyes, finding herself in an unfamiliar place. The beeping sounds of monitoring equipment indicated that she was in the infirmary. As her vision adjusted, she noticed both Chifuyu Orimura and Yap present in the room. Chifuyu was standing near the window, while Yap sat nearby, engrossed in his reading.
Laura: Mentor.. What has happened to me?
Chifuyu: This matter is of utmost importance. And also highly classified. What do you know of the VT system?
Laura: You're talking about the Valkyrie Trace system..?
Yap: The one and only.
Closing his book and the small holographic screen, he turns to look at Germany's representative.
Chifuyu: It's research, development and application of this system are strictly banned by the IS Treaty. However, it appears your IS was, in fact, equipped with it. Moreover, it seems to activate in situations when there is extensive damage and the pilot's mental condition is only focused on winning. You willed it to happen.
Laura: It happened.. because I wished for it?
Yap: (Nods) Ja. You're lucky to be alive and sane after activating that VT system.
Laura's expression shifted from confusion to realization, and a sense of gravity settled upon her.
Laura: (Whispering) The VT system... it responds to the desire to win at any cost.
Chifuyu: It's a dangerous system, Laura. Not only is it illegal, but it jeopardizes the safety of the pilot and everyone around them.
Yap: (Leaning forward) What were you thinking, activating such a forbidden system?
Laura: (Grimacing) I wanted strength, power beyond the limits. But I never thought it would turn into that...
Chifuyu: (Sternly) Strength obtained through such means is hollow and brings more harm than good. You have to understand that true strength comes from discipline and control.
Yap: (Nodding) Exactly. Many have fallen under the promise of "unapparelled strength" in the past. And without a doubt, many more will in the future. And I am simply doing my part to the best I can to ensure no more falls under such promises.
Chifuyu: (Approvingly) That's why we're here, to guide and train you. Strength is not just about power; it's about the choices you make and the responsibility that comes with it.
Yap: And sometimes, it's about knowing when not to use all that power you've got. A lesson learned today, I hope.
Laura nodded, absorbing the valuable insights from her mentor and Yap. The gravity of her actions and the potential consequences were evident, and she was grateful for the guidance she received.
Laura: I... I understand. I won't let my desire for strength lead me down the wrong path again.
Chifuyu: Good. Now, Laura Bodewig. Who are you?
Laura: I am...
Chifuyu: If you're no one, then that's perfect. From now on, you're just Laura Bodewig.
She then starts walking to the exit, before briefly stopping, even giving a small smile.
Chifuyu: But remember, you'll never be able to become me.
