Hyunjin's pov

Syrinx was flying me to my home town and it was a pretty long time ago when I came back home the last time was when I was leaving my home

"Is it still the same " I thought as Syrinx was flying down and I saw from afar my home, I smiled

Syrinx slowly landed down on the ground, and she went down to the ground so I could slide down from her

"Good girl" I said, and I petted her

I walked away from her and I walked to my home through the village but when I walked through the village it was quiet

Normally, there was a market around this time, and children were playing on the streets

"Where is everyone?" I thought as I looked around. Every house was closed, and wooden planks were wooden. Plank planks were panelled on the windows, and some houses had yellow crosses

"Was Chan right about the mysterious sickness that was spreading around" I thought and I eventually arrived at the gates of my old house and I knocked on the huge gates and I looked up if I saw someone

"Hello? Is somebody there!" I shouted and nobody was coming

"Is anybody there!" I shouted, and this time I heard the gate door got opened, and I saw a loyal servant of my family

"Lord Hyunjin? Is that you?" He asked, and I nodded

"Yes, it's me" I said happily, and his eyes widened, and he bowed

"Where are my parents? What's happening here?" I asked him and he looked at me with a sad smile

"There is mysterious sickness spreading around the village, most of the villagers are dead and the sickness also entered your family castle" he said and my eyes widened

"My parents?" I asked him

"Your father is fine but your mother-" he couldn't even finish his sentence when I ran into the castle and I ran to the council where my father was most  of the time sitting
I opened the door and I saw him talking with all of our servants

"Hyunjin? What are you doing here?" My father asked me when he saw me, and he was kinda shocked

"Where is Mother? How did her labour?" I asked him and looked at the nurse that was standing beside him, and she nodded

"Your mother gave you baby sister" He smiled, and a wet nurse walked to me with a baby in her arms, in cloths

She put the baby into her arms, and I softly smiled

"Has she a name?" I asked my father and he nodded

"Dalnim" he smiled and I smiled at her

"Goddess of the moon" I whispered

"Gave mother her name?" I asked my father and he nodded and he looked down

Something was off of him

"What happened to mother, father?" I asked him and he didn't answer

"There were some complications by your mother's labour" the nurse said and I looked at her

"What kind of complications?" I asked her

"Days before her labour she got sick and she probably was infected with th e mysterious sickness" she said and I looked at her

"It made her very sick and it also triggered her contractions so she went into labour few days earlier than her actual date" she said

"Your mother survived the childbirth but" the nurse couldn't hold her emotions anymore

"My son, your mother didn't survive the sickness, and she died." With the last word, I couldn't believe it

"My mother is dead?" I thought, and tears started building up, and I looked down at my newborn sister

"The doctors and the nurses tried everything to save your mother but the gods were cruel and didn't allow it, and they instead gave us a healthy baby girl, but I thought it was a boy -"

"You don't know anything, do you! Mother was too old to get pregnant again, but you insisted on doing it, and you were convinced it was a boy. " I suddenly burst into anger

"How can talk that like that!" I yelled at him and I stormed out of the council room with Dalnim sleeping into my arms

After a few minutes

I sat on a bench in our courtyard, and I smiled when I remembered some old memories from my mother playing with me, telling me stories about mythical creatures that were bonded with nature called Nymphs. As a child, I was fascinated about them, and I wanted to learn about them . My mother told me once that there were Nymphs living close from us and she would take me there, but sadly, she never could

I looked down at my little baby sister, who was looking at me, and she grabbed my finger with her tiny  hand

I smiled at her, and I could see the resembles between her and my mother

"I want you to take Dalnim with you to court and raise her as your lady in waiting." Suddenly, I heard my father saying, and I looked at him

"It isn't safe her for her and you my son and your child " he sai,  and I was kinda shocke. Howw did he know

"Don't worry, your mother told me before she was dying and it's obvious" He said and pointed at my stomach, it was showing

"But first I want you to bury your mother with me and the others" he said and I nodded

"I will" I said

After few minutes

"May Jieun of House Park rest in peace and let the godsguides you to abov,e" the priest said as I saw people burying my mother

"May the Goddessguides you to heaven, my dear mothe,  and I swear  I'm gonna take care of Dalnim and I'm gonna give her the best tutors, ladies" I quietly prayed

Dalnim's tiny hand grabbed my hand and she looked at me with her deep blue eyes

"I'm gonna take care of you, I promise" I whispered

After a few hours

"You have to leave now, take Dalnim with you and oh forget your mother wanted to give you this" My father said as he got a wooden chest and I have seen it before

"It's from your mother, and she wanted to give it a long time ago" my father said

Dalnim was strapped against my chest, clothed with cloths to keep her warm

The loyal servant pulled the chest, and we walked to my dragon, Syrinx, who was landing in front of us. She goy down, and the servant put cords around it by my saddle and climbed up on my saddle, and I looked one last time

It wasn't the same anymore as it was before

I said goodbye to the servant, and Syrinx spread her wings, and she flew up

My free hand was under Dalnim, and I quietly sung to her a lullaby when my mother used to sing at me when I was younger. It was about the nymphs

"Come back to the waters where your family would wait for you~" I quietly sang, and she started to fall asleep

I leaned to her forehead, and I kissed her forehead

"Don't grow too fast, my sweet little sister"
