Third Person P.O.V
It was the late hours of the night within the city of Vale, the aptly named capital of the Kingdom of Vale, and everything was going on as usual. The people milled about, talking, laughing, trading, and overall enjoying the peace provided to them after the Great War, however the majority of the people had no idea just how fragile this peace truly was, with several undercurrents being built within the shadows of civility, like ticking time bombs waiting for the right sparks that will make them detonate. The majority however where more than happy to remain blissfully unaware of the dark underbelly which brewed in their civilization. Or well, it used to be.
But for those in places of authority there was certainly an 'edge' in their heads, a taboo no one wanted to say but was clearly within their minds. What this open secret was is naturally the "Devil's Birth Incident" as dubbed by the public online, the night where the thin layer of peace that coated Remnant was peeled back, and in its place the dark vile that permeated Remnant bubbled towards the surface and reared its ugly head. Despite it having been three months since the incident itself, its presence in the public eye still remained prominent as what could probably be considered the most violent incident in recent history, with the death toll counting in the hundreds after the ensuing madness which permeated the streets of Atlas.
The rest of the world could only look on in shocked fear as Atlas burned for a night, the several photos, videos and streams of the people at the scene painting an almost apocalyptic scene as crazed individuals ran around the streets causing havoc in a blind panic, spilling blood and making massive amounts of damage, only quelled by the swift and brutal actions of the notoriously acclaimed "best military in the world". But even this calamity was not the main focus, as the true cherry on top was the famous scene from which this incident got its name, the scene where the building sized figure of the aptly named "Devil" rose from within his veil of darkness and threatened the wider world with letting the carnage that he contained spill onto the innocent like a tidal wave of sin. The people of Atlas wanted to deny, they wanted to proclaim that what they saw was merely smoke and mirrors, a ruse made to incite chaos in the populace and nothing more and where now waiting so that the officials came and showed how their suspicions where right, came and fixed the image of progress built after years of propaganda. But in its stead they where only met with the current reason for why even after all this time most where still on edge. The silence.
The deafening silence of influential people regarding the situation only served to keep the population of Atlas guessing on what the ultimate fate of the perpetrator which caused this incident was. It wasn't total radio silence, oh no, the media naturally was forced to cover the situation after the rampant spread of new media related to the event throughout the infonet and General Ironwood even making a whole speech about the event, however throughout it all a smoking gun was never showed that would put the unease to bed, no trial for "The Devil", no showcase of how he was killed in combat, only things related to the riots would be handled with any level of finality, with things like the new up and coming model for the Atlasian Knight as well as the programs made to help people which suffered due to the event being promoted to ease the tension that the people of Atlas felt, and while it certainly helped, it didn't have the desired effect of quelling the brewing worry outright.
