Chapter 11: Like a Supervillain

The battle continues to go on with the Farmers and Monsters. However, the Monsters are proven to be stronger.

Rook laughs, "Hah hah hah! Monsieur Magicam, you flee as swiftly as a wild goat! This calls for a more concerted effort."

"You won't last much longer protecting Grim and the girls. This is where your road ends," Trey says.

"Y'know, Trey, nowhere in the rules does it say you've gotta monologue like a supervillain!" Cater says.

"I think we might be done for..." Briar says.

But suddenly, something fires at Trey and Rook.

"What?!" Trey reacts in shock.

"Trey, take cover behind the tree! There's a sniper firing on us from a blind spot!" Rook says.

However, more beans continue to fire in another direction.

Trey dodges, "Rgh... Where are they?"

"2 o'clock. They're using a long-range bean blaster!" Rook says.

But Trey has been hit, "Ouch! Gah. Looks like I've been beaned. You might want to get out of here, Rook."

How could this be?! CHEVALIER DES ROSES! NOOOOO!" Rook cries out dramatically.

"Once again, could you PLEASE not...?" Trey says.

"I will personally ensure that your noble sacrifice was not in vain. Adieu..." Rook says and retreats.

"Yeeesh. That was way too close for me," Grim says.

"But who just fired those beans?" Sereia asks.

"I have a feeling I know who it is," Briar says.

"I was thinking the same," Cater says.

And right on cue," Jade walks over, "Hello, everyone. Are you all right?"

"Yup. Called it. Welcome back, Jade!" Cater says, "That's twice you've pulled us out of the fire. Talk about clutch! I GOTTA take a selfie for this."

"Certainly," Jade says.

Cater turns to Trey, "C'mon, Trey, join us. You're the monster Jade bagged."

"What am I, the fisherman's catch...?" Trey questions.

And soon, Cater has a selfie with the group, with Trey in the picture.

Then Cater types on his phone, "Hashtag #NRC #Beansfest #ItAintOverTillTheFarmerSings #RIPTrey"

"Well, I'm out, so I'll be heading on back. Good luck getting that harp before time runs out," Trey says.

"Bye Trey. We'll see you when the game is done," Briar says.

"Goodbye," Sereia says.

And soon, Trey takes his leave.

Grim turns to Jade, "Your timing back there was somethin' else, Jade. You were like a hero showin' up right in the nick of time."

"Heh. I'm hardly a hero," Jade says in remark, "I've simply been monitoring Cater's Magicam feed."

"Wait, what?" Cater questions.

Then Jade says, "You keep posting pictures every time anything happens. I couldn't have located you otherwise."

"Was THAT why two vice housewardens showed up at the same time?" Sereia asks, realizing something.

"No kidding. Thanks to Cater's posting, we've almost got completely caught," Briar says, annoyed.

Cater blushes,"Well, that's...embarrassing. But hey, it got us out of one mess, right?"

"It did indeed. Heh," Jade says.

"So, Jade. You got the weapon you wanted," Cater replies.

"That bean blaster you've got is way longer than ours!" Grim says.

"Yes," Jade says, presenting the tool, "This model is called a bean launcher— it lets you fire beans a further distance than other models. I also obtained a Run Fast for Ten Seconds potion."

We're racing against the clock here. I think we should make a break for the harp. That battle took a lotta beans, though. I'm down to like four left," Cater says.

But then Jade says, "As it happens, I'm also down to six beans on hand."

"Oh, c'mon!" Grim cries out," How are we supposed to win when we're runnin' on fumes over here?"

"Says the guy who's totally outta ammo," Cater remarks.

"I've only got five beans left," Briar says.

"I've only got three left," Sereia says.

"So we have eighteen beans between us, a Shrink for Thirty Seconds potion, and a Run Fast for Ten Seconds potion," Jade says and begins to think of a plan, "Hmmm."

Then Jade says, "I might have an idea. Would you be willing to hear me out?"

Everyone nods their heads in reply and Jade begins to explain the plan.
