As Riley sat down at the kitchen table of her and James home, she began to think back to her days as a young and shy girl under the shadow of older sister. She remembers the fun as well. The days of going to the juice shop that's name changed often, those days seem so distant now. The times have changed and nothing is the same.
She looked over to the kitchen counter where a stack of wedding invitations just waiting to be sent. Was it a good idea send wedding invites to those not in contact anymore ? Would she be making a mistake? If they all came would they ruin her and James' special day ? Is that a risk she would be willing to take?
"You're wondering if it's a good idea to send them, aren't you?" Her sister Emily says walking into the kitchen with her son, Sam.
"I'm just not sure if it's a good idea, there's so much that could go wrong. I don't want to sound selfish but this day is mine and James' day, I don't them to ruin it with all the drama." Riley says in a blunt tone.
"It's okay to sound selfish, it's up to you and James to decide not me." She says walking over to the coat closet.
"Where you going?" Riley questions her older sibling.
"Sam and I are going to check an apartment down town. I can't stay here forever Riley. James and you need your own space." Emily says putting on her coat and then proceeding to put on Sam's coat as well.
"Are you ever going tell me what happened between you and Mark?" Riley asks.
"When the time is right, I promise." Emily reassured her sister. However what she was saying didn't match up with with her facial expression.
The breakdown of Emily and her now ex-husband Mark's marriage had resulted in her moving in with James and Riley. As much as she loved living with her sister, her sex life was very much lacking because it just wouldn't be right to have sex while her 18 month nephew was asleep in the room beside theirs.
An hour later while still deciding whether to send the invitations, James walked into the kitchen where his fiancé was sitting playing with a cup that was once filled of coffee.
"Why are you overthinking this so much? No matter what happens or whoever is or isn't there, our wedding will be amazing, you wanna know why?" James said sitting in the chair beside Riley.
"Why's that?" She smirked.
"It's going to be the best day our life because you get to be my wife and plus I have some surprises for the wedding night!" He smirked, making Riley giggle.
"It's a shame the wedding is in 3 months I don't know if I can wait that long." She said leaning closer to James.
"As much as I would love to give you a preview I've got a class to teach at the studio." He gives Riley a peck on her lips and and goes out the door leaving Riley alone to keep thinking about the invitations.
James and Riley establishes their own studio 2 and a half years ago. They named it 'Marley Dance Studio'. Strange name, isn't it? They named it after their daughter who passed away a few days after the birth. It took months for the couple to get of the tragic loss of their daughter. In honor of Marley, the set up the studio to commemorate their the little angel.
"Fuck it!" She whispers to herself.
Within minutes Riley is out the door and driving with the wedding invitations next to her in the passenger seat. She parks her car in a space and hops out of the car.
