First Year

Chapter Eighteen

WHEN ARIADNE ARRIVED BACK AT HOGWARTS, she immediately soke out Hermione, Harry, and Ron. Daphne, Tracey, and the rest of the Slytherins would arrive in the evening.

She found Hermione almost immediately, and together they headed to Gryffindor's common room. Ariadne was a little insecure if Hermione had finally snapped as she was about to break a rule.

Students from other houses shouldn't be entering other houses, figuring that's why they might have passwords. No one had ever mentioned it, so Hermione assumed that she didn't break any rules. Furthermore, most of the Gryffindors were already used to Ariadne's presence at their table in the Great Hall. It shouldn't be a problem as long as Ariadne doesn't give the password to others, especially the Slytherins, which Ariadne understood despite herself being one. The only threat could be Percy, as he takes his job as a prefect too seriously.

''Hermione, are you sure that this is a good idea?''

''Well, technically, we aren't doing anything wrong. And it's better to meet here than at Slytherin's common room.'' Hermione tried to reassure the girl for the hundredth time.

''True, but what about Percy? You know how stuck up he gets when he gets in Prefect' Mode. He becomes insufferable.''

Hermione stopped up, making Ariadne walk into her. ''You can talk like that about a Prefect!'' she hissed.

''Whether you talk about Percy as a Prefect or not, it's all the same.'' Ariadne retorted. ''Maybe I should practice the Confundus Charm. It will give us a break whenever he gets into his Prefect mode or just around generally.''

''Ari!'' Hermione hit her arm and laughed. ''And besides, you might get into detention with him observing it.''

Ariadne's eyes widened in horror, and she shuttered. ''Touché. Maybe I should cast the charm on him and blame it on an unfortunate soul that happens to walk by.''

''Ari!'' Hermione hits her arm again. Ariadne, on the other hand, smiled wickedly at her friend. ''It's a Slytherin trait. Self-preservation. I mean, a scolding or detention with Percy is like having to choose between life and death.''

The two girls neared the Gryffindor common room and stood in front of its portrait, The Fat Lady, who eyed Ariadne carefully.

''Caput Draconis.''

''And her?'' The Fat Lady accusingly asked.

''She's alright. She is good friends with Harry, Ron, and I. And most of the Gryffindors.'' The Fat Lady was a little reluctant but opened up for the girls to enter and revealed a round hole on the wall.

After walking through it, some Gryffindors eyed Ariadne, while others greeted her. Thankfully, Percy was not around. Yet.

Ariadne looked at the common room in awe, it was the stick opposite the Slytherin dorm. Ariadne felt like she was engulfed by a roaring fire. Stuffed armchairs, and the great view we have from their windows. The walls were lined with portraits, each one depicting a previous or current Head of Gryffindor. All in all, the common room was very comfortable. The girls found Harry and Ron finishing a game of wizarding chess.

Harry and Ron told the girls about their Christmas and The Mirror of Erised. While Ariadne wondered if she would see her parents too, Hermione had other problems with it than Harry going mad by the Mirror. She was torn between horror at the idea of Harry being out of bed, roaming the school three nights in a row, and disappointment that he and Ron hadn't at least found out who Nicolas Flamel was.
