A/N- Longer chapter, as I want to cover christmas in one chapter.
First Year
Chapter Seventeen
Christmas was coming. One morning in mid-December, Hogwarts woke to find itself covered in several feet of snow, and the lake frozen solid. The Weasley twins taught Ariadne how to bewitch snowballs to follow and harass a specific target, that target being Quirrell. The snowballs hit the back of his turban. And of course they got detention for it.
Ariadne was a little reluctant to accept the invitation to spend Christmas with the Malfoy but gave in when Draco's mother wrote a letter, convincing her to accept the invitation.
Now she packed some clothes, as she didn't feel like dragging her whole trunk with her, so Tracey lent her one of her smaller trunks as she was taking her big one with her.
And of course, Ariadne remembered her box where Nathair was; she often wondered what it looked like on the inside, where the snake was residing.
She also got presents from both Daphne and Tracey, as well as from Theodore and Blaise, who had also been spending more time with the girls.
From Daphne, she got some clothes; Ariadne was more than happy for these, as she hardly had anything presentable herself.
Tracey got her different kinds of earrings of many different colors. And last but not least, she got all kinds of sweets from both Theo and Blaise. Theo said something along the way; she is hard to please, so he decided on giving her sweets if he didn't want to be hexed.
Draco also gave her a gift right away, he gave her a luxury set of quills, parchment, and green ink. He must've noticed that she is careful about how much she uses of each thing because she can't always afford it. Which he doesn't know, of course.
Harry also gave her sweets, and Hermione gave her a homework planner, which Ariadne thought to be very practical, so she didn't need to waste parchment when writing one herself. Even though Ariadne wasn't a slacker, she had lessons with Snape and has already managed to get herself on a couple of detentions. Most of them being for hexing Crabbe in class.
The Weasley twins had gotten her all kinds of products from Zonko's Joke Shop in Hogsmeade. And Ron had gotten her knitted hat, mittens, scarf, and a green jumper with a large yellow A. Of course, Ariadne knew that it was from his mother.

Ariadne had said goodbye to Harry and Ron and the Weasley twins. Now she sat with Draco and the rest of their friend group in a compartment, and Ariadne could swear that Pansy tried to fry her every time she looked at Ariadne. Or when she talked to Draco, much to Pansy's dismay.
As they arrived at King's Cross Station, they said their goodbyes, and Draco took Ariadne's hand and led her through the crowd. Ariadne managed to catch a glimpse of pale-blonde hair slightly away from the crowds of parents and their children, who returned home for the holidays.
Draco greeted his parents, and they turned to her. ''Ariadne, I was happy to hear that you would join us this Christmas.''
''Hello, Mrs. Malfoy, thanks for inviting me.''
