A few hours before Kate got home

Lena was in her office checking her list of groceries she needed to purchase. Last night, she made an inventory of what they had and what they needed. Right now, she was going over everything in her head, trying to come up with some other stuff.

"Are we even going to decorate for Halloween?" Lena asked herself, seeing that the holiday was coming up.

She wasn't sure. Since they live in a penthouse at the top of a building and had just moved there. She didn't know if there was a point. Maybe kids would see if they could stop by, maybe not. Maybe their parents would lead them away from the home of the Luthors. Maybe, maybe not. Lena was not sure what was going to happen. Maybe she could go hang out with Kara and the two of them could give out Halloween candy.

"Why did my mind go to Kara?" Lena asked herself.

She didn't know what to make of that, so she just shook it off before continuing her plans for shopping.

The rest of the day at work didn't last very long and she and her driver, Henry, were heading to the store before she knew it.

In the store, the two of them grabbed a bunch of stuff, food, drinks, ingredients for bigger meals, alcohol, etc. Henry bought baby supplies for his children, Lena went ahead and decided to pay for them too.

"Thank you, Ms, Luthor."

"Of course, Henry. You drive me around, it's the least I can do. Now, let's go and pay for all of this stuff and get home."

"Of course, ma'am."

It took them a while to pay for everything and load them into the car. Once they made it to the apartment building, Lena and Henry pulled everything from the car and put them on a cart.

"Alright, Henry. Go ahead and go home, take care of that baby of yours."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I got this. Go home."

"Thank you, Ms. Luthor."

Henry got back in his car and made his way home. Lena turned back to the cart and began to push it towards the building, but of course she overestimated how easy it would be. Almost immediately, the cart began to shake thanks to a bad wheel and stuff began to fall off.

"Fuck. Maybe I did need his help." Lena sighed before looking to where Henry left too. "Too late now. Oh well."

Just as she was about to put her stuff back on it, someone called to her.

"Lena?"

She looked up and saw none other than Kara Danvers.

"Kara? What are you doing here?"

"I was walking home. Would you like some help with that?"

Lena sighed in relief.

"Yes. I seriously thought this was going to be easier."

"Understandable."

Kara walked over and helped put everything back on the cart.

"Alright, in we go." She said.

Lena pushed the cart while Kara made sure nothing fell off, and if something did, she picked up and back on again.

They got on the elevator quickly and Lena hit the button for the top floor.

"Thank you again, Kara. I really appreciate it."

"Of course."

Lena felt her heart swell as Kara smiled at her.
