─── ❛ the walking dead ❜ ───THAT AFTERNOON WAS ONE of the happiest isabella had ever spent at camp, which maybe goes to show, you never know when your world is about to be rocked to pieces.
she and travis had spent the majority of time kissing between their duties, taking walks around the lake, or sneaking after curfew to keep kissing. her siblings told her everything about how they helped travis to ask her out, she would've been mad if she hadn't liked the outcome so much.
isabella also had time for her friends, she didn't want to be seen as the kind of person who dropped all of her friends as soon as she got a boyfriend. she met up with óscar and daisy more than percy and annabeth, isabella didn't know why, but they were acting weird. they weren't mad at her, but it still felt off whenever she talked with them.
she soon found out that annabeth was uncomfortable because she had a crush on her.
"what?!"
the blonde looked at her, million things going through her mind. "are you mad? i'm sorry if i made it weird. i don't like you anymore... i think." she whispered the last words.
"annie! you think i'll be mad with you for feeling? do you know who my mom is?"
annabeth avoided looking at isabella, she was afraid of what she might say.
"hey, it's okay, i'm sorry for not noticing. i thought you liked percy."
"percy?! don't offend me like that."
safe to say that they were back to being best friends again. percy kept being weird, but isabella preferred to ignore it and get the best out of her summer.
after chiron told her that tyson was leaving to go to the forges, she told the rest of percy's friends and they walked toward where he was.
"hey, percy."
he turned.
isabella, annabeth and grover were standing at the top of a sand dune.
"tyson..." he told them. "he had to..."
"we know," isabella said softly. "chiron told us."
"cyclopes forges." grover shuddered. "i hear the cafeteria food there is terrible! like, no enchiladas at all."
annabeth rolled her eyes and patted grover's shoulder.
isabella held out her hand. "come on, charal. time for dinner."
they walked back toward the dining pavilion together, just the four of them, like old times.
a storm raged that night, but it parted around camp half-blood as storms usually did. lightning flashed against the horizon, waves pounded the shore, but not a drop fell in their valley. they were protected again, thanks to the fleece, sealed inside their magical borders.
still, isabella's dreams were restless. now they were clearer. she was inside a house, maybe in the 70's or sometime around that. isabella was sitting on the floor of a room. she was trying to cast a spell of some sort. there was a book beside her, she looked over at it while trying to say the words.
