The second phase of the exams involves finding two scrolls in the " Forest of death". Team seven arrived in a particular gate where plenty of passed teams waited to enter the forest. Anko stood at the gate front and caught everyone's attention. She explained the rules and the conditions to pass.
" This forest is called the forest of death and you will soon find out why." She said in an ominous tone
Luffy and Naruto grinned to each other and started dancing
"Its called the forest of death and you will soon find out why." They both said in a rasping voice as they did their silly dance
Everyone around them sweat dropped and Sasuke tried to disappear with the background characters. Anko smiled sweet and shunshined behind the duo. "I don't like kids like you, you tend to die faster in these tests. More paperwork for me." She said in an ominous tone as the two stood frozen. Its their second time facing such a menacing chakra after Zabuza.
The two walked away slowly from Anko as they felt her ice cold stare on their back. Sasuke just hoped people didn't catch him with them.
After confirming their participation, they teams were given several entrance points to enter the forest. Team 7 got theirs and headed towards it.
" Hoo hooooo, there are some really HUGE trees in here." Luffy said as he walked towards the entrance.
"I bet they have really HUGE animals in there too Hahahaha." Naruto and Luffy laughed...
A FEW MINUTES LATER:
"WAHAHAHAHAHAH, THIS SNAKE IS HUGE!!!!" Naruto cried as he ran away from the huge snake.
He jumped over trees as the snake used its massive body to effortlessly maneuver through the equally large trees. Unbeknownst to the snake, he was leading it right into their trap.
Naruto saw the kunai up ahead and got ready.
"SASUKE LUFFY! NOW!" Saying that Naruto dived down to the forest floor. The snake followed without knowing about the strings trap laid for it.
Hundreds of small but very strong strings coiled around the snake all over its body. Some sharp enough to dig into its skin. It cried out in pain as it tried to struggle out of the strings, which only led to more pain. Sasuke who was holding all the strings cast some chakra through the strings. Hundreds of paper bombs blew up all around the snake causing it immense pain and bleeding. The snake dangled around the strings bleeding and parts of it blown off writhing in pain.
Luffy who was hidden until now jumped over the snake, he pulled his fists back and came onto the snake at full speed.
"Gomu Gomu noooo, Gatling gun!" He unleashed a barrage of punches that sent the snake tumbling down to the forest floor at full speed.
It crashed so loudly that it caused it to lose consciousness immediately. The three came down to admire their work and smiled. This is where the real fun begins.
This explosion caused all teams within a 3 kilometer radius alerted to this position. The sound team, Team 10 and several other teams rushed towards the direction of the sound.
KONOHA VILLAGE; UNKNOWN LOCATION:
"Its honestly impressive how much he managed to evade our eyes." an Anbu said as he looked over the corpse
"Yes, I detected him during the exams, but didn't think he would manage to evade us this far. Must be the teachings of his master." Itachi said as he looked around the dark alleyway.
"In concealment jutsu, he is as good as Kakashi senpai. But his skills lack to stand in the realms of Kakashi." He said as he looked over the cold dead body of the man he had just killed.
The anbu walked over to the corpse and began searching his body for any other clues. Another anbu then showed up in the scene and walked over to Itachi.
" Hokage sama wants your report." He said and beaconed Itachi to follow him.
"Alright, wrap this up soon." He said to the anbu searching the body and jumped away with the other Anbu.
HOKAGE OFFICE:
" Are we still finding spies? How much has the snake planned to cause havoc?" Hiruzen cursed as he looked out the Hokage office window
" Our units are still searching for other potential spies within our ranks. Its mostly clean but we don't want to take risks." Fugaku said as he leaned over a wall
A knock on the door caught his attention, though he already sensed who the person was a mile away
"You may enter." He said and Itachi walked in. There were several visible blood stains over his outfit.
" Greetings lord Hokage, I'm here on the report." He said and Hiruzen nodded beaconing him to go on
" The man we got went as Kabuto Yakushi, he was a spy for Orochimaru. We confirmed this when we detected his chakra on multiple places where Orochimaru was spotted. Here is his headband and blood sample confirming his death and scrolls proving his involvement with the snake." He said and handed over the stuff
Hiruzen took them and confirmed them himself.
"Good work boys." He smiled and Itachi bowed and left the office.
"Thats one down, how many more to go?" He contemplated as he looked out the window
