Keefe
Watching Sophie's pale form on the healing center cot, hurt more than Keefe wants to admit. 45 minutes after the rescue team left, they came rushing back and instead of 2 bodies, they had 3. Mr. Forkle explained to them, that Sophie had a panic attack. Keefe doesn't blame her. Kenric and Jolie's bodies were bruised, scarred, and pale. Although Elwin assured everyone that he could fix them, the banshee lying next to them, said differently.
That was one week ago. Jolie and Kenric are already awake, getting questioned by the Black Swan and the Council. Elwin said that Sophie would wake up when she was ready.
Suddenly, a sharp intake of breath snapped him out of his thoughts.
Sophie was awake.
Sophie
She wanted to stay in the darkness but the light above were calling to her. She opened her eyes, but the light was too bright, she gasped, her lungs stinging.
She could make out a blurry head above her.
"Sophie, are you all right?"
She recognized that voice. It belonged to Keefe. Trying to respond to his question, she grunted.
"Wait right here, I'm going to get Elwin."
Where else would she go?
A few moments later, Keefe and Elwin came rushing into the room. He started flashing different colored orbs around her. Once he was finished the the exam, he asked her a few questions.
"You're all cleared to go!" He announced proudly.
"B-But, no one explained what happened." Sophie stuttered.
Keefe ran a hand through his hair. "You had a panic attack when you saw Kenric and Jolie's bodies. You've been asleep for a week."
She launched out of her bed. "What?! A week?! Are they awake?"
"Yeah."
"Where?!"
"Havenfield." Before Keefe could even react, Sophie pulled out her home crystal and let the light whisk her away.
As soon as she got there, she sprinted up the stairs and opened the door violently.
"Grady, Edaline? Where are you?" Sophie yelled.
"Over here, sweetie."
Sophie entered the living room and saw The Council and The Collective interrogating Jolie and Kenric. They didn't look too bad. They had a few scars but that was it. After recovering from her shock, she ran and hugged Kenric. Sophie didn't care that anyone was watching.
"I'm so sorry," She whispered.
His arms wrapped around her and he whispered back, "It wasn't your fault."
"Mom? Dad? Who's this?"
Sophie turned around and saw that Jolie was looking at her weirdly.
"I'm Sophie. A pleasure to meet you, Jolie."
She smiled. "You too."
"Sophie lives with us," Grady said.
"That's so cool! I've always wanted a little sister." Her excitement changed to confusion. "Hasn't she always lived with you?"
"I'm adopted." Why hasn't Grady and Edaline told her this? "How long have you been awake?"
"Three days."
That doesn't make sense.
Sophie frowned.
"Wait!" Jolie's eyes widened. "Are you the Moonlark?"
Sophie was bewildered. What have they been doing for the last three days.
Noticing her expression, Mr. Forkle said, "We haven't explained yet. We were going to do it before you came."
That makes sense but something told Sophie there was another reason Grady and Edaline didn't explain. Sophie didn't have time to ponder the thought because they started to explain everything that happened.
She was asked so many questions that a headache formed. When she escaped to her room, she collasped on the bed and let the darkness take her away.
Hey guys! Sorry for the short chapter again. I'll try and make them longer.
