Sophie's POV
"Fitz." He looked up.
"Yeah Soph?"
"I was thinking maybe we could go revisit the cave again. Maybe there's something we could find that we didn't the first time."
"Okay, that's sounds fine. Let's get going know." I nodded and the both of us made our way to the cave.
"Okay, I was thinking. We should dig deeper in the cave. I know there's just water but maybe we could find something else."
"How much deeper?" I shrug.
"As deep as we can go." We went in the water. I know, really weird, but as a detective you have to go to far lengths for whatever you can find.
We made a small turn although only a bit above our ankles were wet. Then we noticed something.
"The crack doesn't open much." There's a small crack between the two sides that was small but big enough for water to still go through.
"No human being can fit through there. So even though the water currents may of brought Cadence over here, there's no way she could've fit." Fitz said.
"I agree. So I think Candace may died in the cave. Cause there's no way she could've gone through this." Fitz nodded.
"Now how are ways she could've died in water so shallow like this?"
"She still could've been poisoned. It's not a possibility that we should cross out yet. Although I doubt she was actually in the water."
"Yeah. That sounds the most reasonable answer. I can't really think of other ways and I doubt she's that bad a swimmer she tripped in the water and drowned." I nod.
"I want to talk more with Richard. I felt like we got nowhere with the conversation we had with him."
"Yeah. We already know he's hiding something important, which is why he won't talk. I wish there was another way to get him to talk."
"Yeah. We should start heading back anyways. Why did we think it was a good idea to come in the water with our shoes on?"
"I don't know. But I hate soggy socks." Fitz smiled and grabbed my hand.
"I know." He grabbed me by my waist so we were facing each other our chests touching and put his lips on mine.
I was surprised by the action but happily kissed him back. We soon broke apart smiling.
"Soph, I feel like we should spend more time together." I laugh.
"We spend the whole day together almost every day of the week."
"I know but I mean romantically. You know going out on dates. Spending one on one time together, alone."
"Yeah we should."
"So that's why I will be taking you out on a date, Friday night. And it'll be just the two of us. So that means no work will be involved. We won't have to worry about Richard or John or whoever." I smile and kiss his cheek.
"I would love too." He smiled, placing another kiss on my lips, much shorter this time.
"Now let's get out of this water." Hand in hand we made our way out of the cave. It sucked to have soggy shoes and socks but we had too.
We drove to Richard's house, hoping to get more things from him.
We knocked on his door and his face scowled at hen he saw us.
"I can't get you two off my ass. What the hell do you want?" He asked. We entered the house, the house messier than the last time.
"We have a few predictions about Candace. We have a feeling she may have died in the cave she was found in. We have a feeling you're part of it because we found your fingerprints on her body. What happened with Candace." He gulped and looked down.
"I told you, I don't know."
"Yes you do. We don't know what you're hiding but you have to tell us to solve the mystery about your wife." Fitz said.
"She seemed fine before she left the house the other day. And I don't know why my fingerprints are on her." Fitz shook his head.
"Richard. You know. Don't lie to us, because we know you know everything. You're hiding it from us because you know you are guilty. So answer the damn question so we finish this." He seemed like he was actually thinking about it.
"Go to John if you want your answers." He simply said.
"What does John have to do with it?" I ask.
"He did it."
"Did what?"
"He did it." He repeated, not adding anymore to it.
"I feel like that's enough. Let's go Soph." Fitz said; exiting the house.
"What did John do?" I shrug my shoulders.
"Only one way to find out." We started driving to his restaurant and parked and went inside.
"Table for two?"
"I'm afraid not, may we speak with your manager?" She nodded and soon came back with John.
"We'd like to speak with you outside." He nodded and we exited the restaurant.
"Yes?"
"We know you did it." He raised his eyebrow.
"What did I do?" He asked.
"Richard told us you have something to do with Candace's death. We'd like to know the answer."
"You may want it, although you don't need it." He said.
"Yes we do. Solving mysteries is our job. So yes we do need the information, you less you would like to take this at the station with handcuffs on your wrist." He rolled his eyes.
"Candace's death had nothing to do with me." Fitz pulled out his handcuffs.
"We're taking you back to the station." Fitz started putting the cuffs around John's wrist.
"You can't do that!"
"Yes we can. We're technically not arresting you which is something we're not allowed to do unless we have evidence. But we are also perfectly allowed to do this." Fitz pushed him to the car and John took a seat in the back and we entered the front.
"But my restaurant!"
"This is far more important." I say. We drove him back to the station and pushed him to one of the rooms. It had a window beside the door and a large table one chair on one side and two in the other. Fitz pushed John into the side of the table with only one chair and he and I took a seat in the other.
"Speak."
