Fitz's POV

"I guess so."

"All right, we still need to contact the person Candace was talking to about getting her article published," Sophie said, bringing out Candace's computer. Once she was in she went to Candace's email, finding the name of the lady Candace had been contacting.

"Her name is Lily Cole, her email is right there and turns out they were supposed to meet 3 days ago. Since we have her email, we can contact her ourselves and ask to meet up someplace to talk," I pulled out my phone.

"Already on it," I say, putting in Lily's email. I wrote to her something small, asking her meet up at a small coffee shop just down the street at 4:30. Once I sent it, I put my phone back in my pocket.

"Now, maybe we could maybe search up the secret club John Bergs is in." She says.

"If it's a secret I really don't think we're going to find it by searching it up. Kind of gives away the meaning of top secret," Sophie shrugged her shoulders and continued trying to look for it.

"Nothing," Sophie said, turning off her computer.

(Time skip to 2 hours)

I pulled out my phone hoping to find a response by Lily. A small smile grew on my face when I opened the email she sent, saying that she would love to go. It was 4 now so I guess it was a bit last minute.

"She said yes. We should go ahead of time," I say. Sophie nods in agreement and we both leave the station and make our way to the small cafe. We sat in empty chairs we found and after making a little small talk, I saw a blonde enter the cafe, her phone in her hand. I guess it was Lily because it was exactly 4:30. She sees us, a smile grew on her face. She walked over.

"Are you Lily Cole?" She nodded.

"We're the people that have contacted you earlier. Please take a seat," Sophie said. Lily obliged and rested her hands on her lap. I couldn't help but notice she was sneaking a few looks at me. I hate it when girls do that.

"We're here to ask you a few questions about Candace Beyers," I start. "Can you start off with what you know about her?"

"Well, I of course don't know who she actually is. We were supposed to meet up a few days ago to talk about her article that she had wanted to publish. Although I thought it was ridiculous. She had stopped talking for about a week so I had thought she had just given up on it-"

"If you thought she had given up on it why were you two still going to meet up a few days ago?" Sophie interrupted.

"We had scheduled the meeting beforehand and because she hadn't said anything I still thought we were supposed to meet up. But when I went she hadn't arrived, which I thought was odd because she hadn't made any move to cancel. And I waited for hours and hours, and wrote her several emails and messages, still finding no response from her. So I thought she was utterly busy to write back so I had just given up on it." Sophie and I wrote everything down on our notepads.

"Can you tell us what she had been writing about?" I asked.

"Something about her boss. Saying that he has the power to live for a really long time because she found a picture of him from the 1930's looking the same way he looks right now. But that's absurd, that only happens in TV shows and stuff. There's no way it could happen in real life. Do you know what happened to her?" Sophie and I exchanged a glance.

"She went missing a bit more than a week ago and we found her dead a few days ago. Everything you tell us could be helpful to solving what had happened to her." Sophie answered.

"Wait who are you guys?"

"You didn't tell her?" Sophie said. I ran a hand through my hair.

"I thought if we told her our jobs she wouldn't want to come here," I answer. Sophie sighs and looks at Lily, smiling.

"We're detectives. And right now we're investigating the murder of Candace Beyers," Sophie said. "Is their anything else you can tell us about her?" Lily shrugged.

"I'm not sure. I think I told you everything I know." Lily said. "I'm sorry."

"You have no reason to apologize, you've given us a good amount of information. Thank you for your time," I said. She smiled and nodded, looking at the empty table.

"No problem."

"All right Sophie we should start heading back to the station. Thank again," she responded with no words and Sophie and I made our way out of small cafe.

"She kind of helped?" I said when we entered the car.

"Doesn't really help us with anything, but once you go undercover on the 23rd, I' sure we'll get more than enough information."

"If I sign in as John Bergs first, what will happen to him when tries to sign in with his name?" I ask. Sophie shrugged.

"Once again, we don't really know what this whole club is and how it works. Who knows what happens with intruders. I only hope they don't catch you," I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"If I have a chance of being caught why am I doing it?" Sophie rolled her eyes.

"Because, going undercover is a big deal. We'd uncover some big information that could really help us with solving the murder," Sophie said.

"Soph, if I went undercover what you have done with my suit?" She scrunched her face up in confusion.

"What?"

"I mean, were you going to add a camera, a little recorder where we can hear things instead of seeing them," she nodded her head, understanding.

"I was going to add a little recorder to your tie, something small that blends in with the color. Why?"

"What if we add it to-" Sophie shook her head, already knowing what I was going to say.

"No Fitz, that is out of the question. We aren't planting a recorder in John's suit or tie."

"Sophie, it's the best plan. What if they know I'm a fraud and they give us false information? We'd be led on and would be getting nowhere to the mystery. Putting it in John's tie would be the best action," Sophie shook her head.

"What if he knows we planted it in his tie and gives us false information as well?" She made a good point.

"How would he know it was from us? He doesn't know we went to his house. He doesn't know we know that he's in a little club. We've interviewed him once only to find out what happened to Candace." Sophie stayed silent for a few minutes.

"How would we plant it in?"

"I don't know, it depends on the structure of the recorder. Is it a clip on or something?" Sophie shrugged.

"My cousin's making it, so I'll have to him later."

"Once we have it, I'll go to his house plant it in his tie-"

"Fitz, he has several ties, how do you know if he's going to where that one to the event," once again she made another point. Why did she have to be so smart?

"Then how about we plant it in all of his ties?"

"That's even more riskier Fitz, I don't want you to get caught." I gave a small smile at her.

"Sophie, the only thing that would be riskier about it is having enough time to plant it in before he goes home. But I promise it'll be fine."

"I'm not saying yes or anything, but let's head back to the station and talk about it some more," I smile at her, got the car started, and drove us back to the station.
