You sat beside Reuben in the amulet room as your friends searched the area. Well, Jesse was at least. Reuben had his head in your lap, but you couldn't tell if he was snoring or just breathing. He reminded you of a short-snouted dog. You know, the ones that sound like they're going to have a heart attack after walking to their food dishes?

"Mind if I join you?" You looked up from Reuben to see Lukas in front of you. You nodded and he stood awkwardly for a moment before taking a seat against the wall beside you.

"Soo... did you sleep okay?" You tried not to laugh at the awkward look on Lukas' face from his attempt at a smooth conversation.

"Yeah, I used to go camping a lot, so I didn't really mind it. Did you?"

"Yeah, yeah. I was fine too." Lukas was in fact not fine. I mean, how could he after having to sleep in the cold while dealing with a bunch of people who hated him for no reason? Well, maybe there were some reasons... like his friend almost killing Reuben the other day. Geez, no wonder they hated him.

"You're such a bad liar." You ignored Lukas's incredulous look and focused on Jesse's endeavor to find something useful. "How long do you think it will take him to realize the amulet goes on the pedestal?" You pointed to where Jesse was investigating.

Lukas followed your gaze, "Y/n! How long ago did you realize that? Jesse's been poking around that thing for at least ten minutes!"

You shrugged, "I knew what it did before we came here." You hoped your naturally sarcastic sounding voice would kick in so you didn't have to lie to Lukas' face.

"Sure, of course you did." Lukas stood up with an exasperated sigh. "We should go help him."

You couldn't help but smile at how he still wanted to help despite your friends (mostly just Axel) being jerks to him. "Fine, fine. You can help him figure it out." You said simply, handing Lukas the amulet as you continued to pet Reuben's head. "I have to take care of Reuben, so I'm trusting you with this."

Did Reuben need to be taken care of? No. But did you use it as an excuse anyways? Obviously. Was Lukas aware you were using Reuben as an excuse to laze around? Of course, but he didn't do anything about it.

Lukas left with a sigh to help Jesse, and soon enough the two boys were calling everyone over like elementary students excited to show off their new trick. The map was lit up, and you could already hear Axel and Olivia arguing whether to go fetch Elleguaard or Magnus.

Axel had his arms crossed and a grouchy frown. "Magnus could just blow up the wither and we'll be done with this!"

Olivia, as always, had a comeback. "Ugh- it's not that easy, Axel! A little TNT won't stop a giant monster that's eating literally everything down to the bedrock!"

"Guys, guys. We should go find Elleguaard." Jesse interrupted the two, making Olivia cheer and Axel grumble.

You sighed, knowing both 'heroes' would end up getting roped in anyways. "Jesse, you and Olivia should take the amulet and go find Elleguaard. The three of us will stay here."

   For a while, at least.

Jesse looked like he wanted to say something, but nodded anyways. "When do you think we should leave?"

You were going to mumble and 'I don't know', but Olivia had an answer for him. "Right now!" The giddy tone in her voice made you smile. "I mean, if we wait, we might not be able to stop the wither storm in time. So let's go!"

As Olivia dragged Jesse with her, you followed behind them to the door. Before they left, Olivia turned back and gave you a hug to cover for what she said, "Sorry for leaving you with them. Please don't let those two kill each other."

As she pulled away and began walking off with Jesse, you waved, pretending to not be upset about that she knowingly left you with the two boys. "Stay safe Olivia, Jesse!"

----

When you returned to the inside of the temple, it had already devolved into chaos. "Y/n!" You heard two voices exclaim simultaneously.

You stifled a groan and headed over to where Axel had Lukas in a headlock. "Axel, what are you doing now?"

You were ignored. "Y/n, I need you to stay here with Lukas to make sure he doesn't pull anything funny. I'll be back soon with Magnus."

You blinked, unsure how to respond. You knew that Axel would go get Magnus, but weren't expecting a babysitting request. "I'm sorry?"

"Great! I don't know what I'd do without you!" Axel dropped Lukas on the ground with a concerningly loud thud, but it was Lukas, so you knew he was okay. He was used to it.

"Wait, wait, wait!" You shouted, running after the for-once-quick boy. Despite knowing Axel would be fine, you couldn't help but be concerned. "Don't you need like, a copy of the map or something?"

Axel shrugged, tapping his head. "I've got it all up here, don't worry, Y/n."

You sighed, running a hand through your hair. You were going to go bald from stress from your friends before the wither. "You're such an idiot. Just watch your back, the people there are a little crazy."

Axel gave you a skeptical look but shrugged it off before you could notice. "You know I will, I'm a prank master, nothing can get behind me." You knew that wasn't true from experience, but Axel's eyes narrowed as he continued. "Just watch the blonde for me, I know he's going to get up to something shady while I'm gone."

You sighed, nodding along to Axel's ramblings as you said your goodbyes. "If Jesse gets back before you, I'm saying you snuck off, okay?"

Axel shook his head in disappointment, but he had a grin on his face. "As if that'll happen. See you later, Y/n."

"Bye Axel." You waved like a grandmother watching her grandchildren until they turned the block, waiting until Axel left to go help Lukas off of the floor. Axel had somehow managed to tie a shoelace(?) around him to keep his arms down. Maybe instead of pranks his real calling was kidnapping. "You look like you could use some help."

Lukas' face lit up as he saw you and he stopped trying to get free. "Y/n, you're the best person I know and I'm so glad you didn't leave too."

"Because otherwise you'd be stuck on the floor until we got back?" You crossed your arms.

   Lukas nodded.

Hmm... choices, choices. Should Y/n catch up with her dear friend who may or may not get into trouble or stay with the blonde who's constantly bullied and may or may not need someone to lend an ear? The choice is yours ;D

Also, I keep writing like four paragraphs when I try to explain it, but I have to share: My crush is so cute and I love him.
