Lukas groaned as he pushed himself up from the obsidian platform he'd landed on. Face first.

You, on the other hand, were already admiring the weirdly tranquil world that was the End. It was so alien, with a cold yet humid atmosphere and the swirling purple sky which encapulated you in every direction... it was surprisingly lovely.

"Hey, Y/n." The blonde interrupted your thoughts, "I just... want you to know I can help you with whatever you need. I-I mean, if you don't want to bother Jesse, I'm here too."

Looking at Lukas, you noticed the pink hue in his cheeks as he told you this. You were quite sure he'd never acted like this in game, and you had a decent head on your shoulders, so you weren't totally oblivious. However, you found it rather difficult to believe that Lukas could possibly...

"Y/n! We're here to save yo- oh." Axel yelled after appearing on the obsidian platform beside you. "I really got hyped up just for you to not have moved an inch..."

You grinned, "It's the thought that counts, buddy. If you really want me to, I can go stare down an enderman for you."

Axel sighed, "Maybe later, I'm over it now- hey!"

"Axel, don't entertain her jokes like that!" Olivia scolded after hitting Axel on the head. "And Y/n, don't joke around about you getting hurt."

   "Yes ma'am."

----

Jesse sighed, walking over to the wall Lukas was leaning on in the wool world. Y/n and Olivia were figuring out how to open the door and had told him to take a break, so he was rather lost, being used to doing things himself.

   "Hey."

Lukas looked at Jesse skeptically as he approached him, but after his initial surprise passed he seemed much more open than Jesse had imagined him to be. "Hey. You need something, or...?"

Jesse shook his head. He wasn't exactly sure why he came over here. Axel had gotten frustrated about their current location, so he wasn't particularly keen on being near him, but Jesse had never really minded being on his own.

"Nope, just checking in. How are you holding up?"

Lukas looked like a little kid who'd just been told Santa wasn't real. "O-oh, I'm doing good. I'm actually kinda surprised with how well I've been taking the whole 'monster eating the world' thing."

Jesse nodded, unsure how else to react. "That's... good."

   "How about you?"

   "I'm fine... stressed, but fine."

Lukas nodded, neither knowing how or if they should continue the conversation.

   "So..."

Lukas and Jesse looked at each other, each motioning for the other to continue. Jesse being more insistent.

Lukas looked around, trying to find something to say. "Y/n's pretty amazing, don't you think? She keeps insisting we'll find something here. Her determination is... enviable."

Jesse nodded, unsure why this of all things was Lukas' topic of choice. "Yeah... she's very fearless. Clever too." Jesse held back a smile at his words.

   Except for that one thing...
