Kimberly was on her way to work. Her cousin Monica was making breakfast.

"Girl, when are you going to get a hombre (man)?"

Kimberly family and Monica were a blended family. Black with a mixture of Latin. Most had a lighter skin tone as she and her cousin. Others had deep skin that was all beautiful. Their ancestors blessed them with amazing genes with rich earth skin and honey like tone. The fresh attitude that both got from the African descent and the Spaniards. Full lips. Curves. Tight or loose curls.

Some had thicker hair than others. But that didn't matter because they'd appreciated and loved each trait that was passed down to them. Afro Latin straight to the roots their identity was the key to shaping their lives and truly love themselves the way they were.

She confessed, "I rebuked that in the name of Jesús. Don't need or want a man. I've got Jesús. Me, myself, and I. Married to my job. That's more than enough for me."

"Stop, lying!" Kimberly rolled her eyes. "And my back isn't stiff."

Kimberly and Monica burst into in laughter at the same time. Sometimes she wonders what went on her cousin's pretty little mind.

"Two words. Estás loco (You're crazy) Girl, bye, I will see you later."

Maybe he could still go back. Put it all behind him. Move on. Forget it as nothing ever happened. He now regretted departing from his mother, and father was something he never pictured that he could do. Now that he had was it too late to go back. No, he couldn't return. Not yet. If he returns, his father will see him as a weak man that couldn't stand firm to his decisions. And he would use his weakness against and disrespect his wishes and most likely will continue to navigate Dimitrius's life as he pleases.
