"At last, some peace and quiet." Kimberly pulled her chair scooted in her desk. Hours flashed by with her making important phone calls with the aid of her male assistant Jacob Turner. A junior college taking a business class. He wanted to capture a better insight into the course that he was majoring in. Jacob took the opportunity to apply as an assistant when he received the news that a successful entrepreneur was in need for an assist.
His colleagues teased that working for a woman will portray him as a masculine "you will be her dog" he remembered them saying. With him replying back "If it will benefit me in the future. Then her dog I will" They never brought up that conservation again. Kimberly usually does not hire anyone that lacks experience but Jacob was a sweet boy and always got the job done, unlike other employees who were much older than him. You would think that they would the ones to do a terrific job. Needless to say, it was the contrary.
Jacob was known for being one of the best workers in the company. It is quite adorable. With his pale skin deep blue eyes. Give him a few years he will grow up to be a big man. Those colleges girls better snatch him while he's still available. There were no attractions between Kim and Jacob. She simply thought of him as a little brother from another mother. A brother that she never had.
Kimberly informed Jacob at his first interview with her that she cannot afford to have another employee quit because male employees were the ones that did. They had tantrums claiming they couldn't work or take orders from a "female" one ridiculous thing an ex-worker said was that "she belongs in the kitchen." In reality, it was that they couldn't tolerate the fact that she was a successful businesswoman. It took every strength in her to not marched up to him and slap him.
As always Kimberly gave them an option to quit. It would be obviously a complete waste of her time to convince them to stay. Time is money as they always say. She couldn't afford to lose any precious time. But with only holding about fifty employees left there was so much to be done. It seemed impossible to achieve it with the remaining of the worker.
As if she wasn't stressed enough. It was Kimberly time of the year. The joyful year to get back into the process of hiring new employees. That's just cherry top, Lovely.
"Here's your coffee, Ms. Austin." Jacob hands her the hot coffee.
She took a sip of the creamy coffee. "What would I do without you, Jacob?"
The intern laughed. "Always happy to assist, Ms. Austin."
They resumed back into working hard getting everything sorted out. Then took a lunch break quickly went back to business. After hours and hours of working. They lost track of time to the point that the janitor had to come in and began cleaning Kimberly office.
"You should get home, Jacob. I don't want your roommate to think that I'm some mean boss that always keep up late." Kimberly began to pack her stuff.
As much he didn't want to show it. It was a relief to be heading home. Kimberly notices the dark circle that appeared below his eyes.
"Not at all, have a good evening, Ms. Austin."
"You as well."
She bid him goodbye and walk to her car as he did the same. Moments later, Kimberly got home exhausted.
"How was work, Ms. Independent?" Her cousin had finished cooking dinner not too long ago. Their home carried out the fragrance of the divine food that she made.
Kimberly collapse to the couch for a while then got up to wash her hand in the bathroom. "Oh, Goodness! I. Am. Tired."
"See that's what happens when you want to be your own boss. Unlike you, I don't mind working for a higher authority," says Monica. "Heck, you want to be the authority that what you are. So, suck it up, girl."
Kimberly added, "Well, you are somewhat the boss as well. All you got to do is check the patients and provide medical support. Whatever it is that you do. Basically, you're one boss away from being a physician."
Her cousin put the plates on the dinner table. Monica was a physician assistant she loved her job wouldn't trade for the world. "Yeah, but I don't write my own paycheck."
"Yea, yea, whatever" Kimberly stuck her tongue out at Monica. They both said grace then dug in. Kim and Monica told each other about their day. She gasped snapping her fingers as she tried to think back. "Oh, nearly forgot!"
"I met this guy and his friend on my way to work. Because my tires got busted. He tried to help but I said no because I knew that he was simply trying to spit game. Nope, didn't work because I saw through his B.S."
Monica asked her curiously. "Did you get his number?"
"What? No." Kim says automatically.
"Well, you should've asked for it. The next time you ran into him." Monica wanted her cousin, Kimberly to be happy. With a man. A man that has similar dreams as her. Even one that did not. It doesn't matter now. She didn't want her to be successful and alone. Next thing she will be leaving with hundreds of cats.
Kimberly shrugged, "What? No. Besides I kind of acted like I wasn't interested. On top of that, they were foreign,"
"And....?? We foreign too! Girl, you don't know that they're the best one. A little bit of Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, French, Grecian, etc. Heck, even countries I've never heard of the foreigner the better. "
"You are something else." Kim mimicked a really funny comedian Kevin Hart.
"Yeah, I know. You better pray to sweet baby Jesús that you receive another opportunity to see him again. I want to see how hot they are," added Monica. "And you know that stiff back of yours isn't getting to bend on its own."
Kimberly laughed until her stomach to ache. "Girl, I'm done with you and shenanigans."

"Sir, I've gotten the document that you've sought." Marcus creaked open the hotel room that they've stayed for quite a while. He gave Dimitris his part of the thick stacks large envelopes. He had spent all day fetching for a man that will help them start a new life at the good o' states of America.
"Thank you, Marcus," says Dimitris. "The man informed to be very careful with the documents. If it goes into the wrong hands it can cause great conflicts."
There was a worried look at his chauffeur eyes. He knew that he could get into a lot of trouble for doing this task for him. Dimitris offered enormous amount money to make sure that no one talked.
"I am aware of that, Marcus. No need to worry. When it comes to that, I will take the blame. You'll not face the consequences." He promised.
Marcus nodded. Somehow, he trusted his boss that he wouldn't do anything that will put him in grave danger.
"Y-You will go by this and only this."
He was still young and going to prison was the last place he wanted to go.
"And you? What will go by?" Dimitris asked.
Marcus gulped as he opened his envelope.
"...I will go by this, sir." He couldn't believe he was going through it. He prayed to the stars that all goes well. If not, they will be doomed.
