18. Shopping

Three days till the engagement and I am nervous as hell whenever the thought of marriage comes my brain freezes . People at work still talk but the topic are mostly in my for and about how glowy my face looks because of the marriage only if they knew how cold my feet and hands get every time Payal picturised me in wedding lehenga. 

Vijay last night told me that aunty wants to go shopping for the party and asked me to be free in the afternoon but due to my lined up surgeries I couldn't agree and told him , I thought him to be persistent about the timing but to my surprise he asked me when I am free and reluctently agreed when I said evening. Now I am going down to the main gate of the hospital where the car is waiting for me.

I was walking out when two nurses giggled about how a handsome man in suit  is waiting outside the hospital gate . I laughed and wondered who is the hunk that got the attention. I went outside and couldn't believe what I saw Vijay was standing leaning on his car and scrolling his phone . When Vijay told me that a car would pick me I thought it would be Rick but never in a million year thought he himself will pick me up.

Vijay suddenly looked up and noticed me , he kept his phone inside the pocket and fixed his suit  I increased my speed and came closer , he opened the car door for I got in he too went to his side and soon we left the front gate of the hospital. 

The drive was particularly silent and it was getting kinda awkward , my eyes suddenly fell on Vijay's hands that were on the steering wheel they were so fucking seductive, his rolled up sleeves and veins added the spice to it. OMG! I have gone crazy but this scene felt like it was worth of going crazy. My phone rang and gave me a reality check of what I was doing. I took out my phone from my backpack ,it was Payal.

"Have you reached?",Payal's excited voice came. She was very excited to join me but due to work she couldn't manage and now has clearly instructed to send me images of everything I try on today.

" Na not yet ", I yawned. " Seriously Amrita you are yawning while going to select your engagement dress", Payal disappointment was clear. I clarified ," Come on yrr I had 3 emergency operations, then outpatient ,then went on rounds. I practically inhaled black coffee today and only got the chance to have half a plate of the lunch." I whined like a baby , my everyday goes more or less like this but sometimes its way too packed and Payal knows that very well so she didn't say anything and we talked a few more minutes before I hung up.

When I was keeping my phone inside , I realised Vijay was looking at me. Oh! shit I forgot that he was here did he felt bad about how I whined or did he think he caused me disturbance. "Is something wrong?" I somehow asked hoping him not to mind anything. "Do you eat packaged food?"

"Huhhh!!", I was dumbfounded by his sudden question but he was normal rather he looked at me and raised his eyebrows when I didn't answer him . I nodded he immediately took a turn and stopped in front of a supermarket , parked his car got out of it and went inside after telling me to stay. I on the other hand sat their clueless about what just happened even before I could process everything he came back with a bag and shoved it in my lap it was full of various snacks .

Okay did I get butterflies because of that ?Yes! Do I regret it ? No! I am definitely going crazy. "I bought that for you to eat not to stare at it like you saw it for the first time." Vijay's voice made me turn to him , he is already driving . I took out a biscuit packet from it and started eating and god was I hungry ,I finished within minutes and continued munching some more . 

"finally my stomach got some food , Thank you very much but you bought too much",I said looking at the paper bag in which still some were left untouched. He didn't say anything rather parked his car got out and opened the door for me.
