Astarion × Male reader

(Count of Monte Cristo AU final part. It might be a little rushed, I couldn't really think of a mind-blowing happy ending.)

It was over and done with... Gortash now laid dead.

(Y/n) closed his eyes in fear, not daring to gaze upon the bloodbath before him.

Astarion, on the other hand, couldn't help basking in this moment. Revenge was finally his.

There's only one matter left at hand.

The (race) gathered his courage, opening his eyes to gaze upon the pale elf.

"Astarion..."

With a sigh, the vampire glanced at his first love.

"I swear to you, my love... I didn't know. His words were so sweet, so sincere, that I couldn't taste the bitter lies beneath."

He held his hands to his chest.

"Gortash toyed with my love for you. He exploited it when he told me you had died, and he convinced me to keep living for your memory. That fiend knew exactly what to say... he told me the things I needed to hear in my time of mourning."

(Y/n) held a hand out to Astarion once more, a sorrowful pain burning behind his (e/c) eyes.

"My heart remained yours even then. There is no other I wish for it to belong to..."

The vampire remained silent. (Y/n) hesitantly withdrew his offered hand.

"... If you will not take me back, I understand. One could only imagine what hell you've been through by now. I just want you to know, my heart will still continue to be yours."

He smiled (up/down) at Astarion, tears already beginning to spill over his cheeks.

"I will not move on this time... I've learned my lesson. So long as I continue to breathe, the only hand I'll ever take is yours. That is my promise to you."

As he turned to leave, a pale hand latched onto his arm. He didn't even have time to say anything before Astarion was kissing him; pulling the (race) into a tight embrace.

(Y/n) melted into it, holding Astarion just as tightly...

There really were no words left to say.
