LAURA
"It's weird watching them getting along," I mumble as we watch Charlie talking to my dad. "I can't believe you know her. What a small world."
Mum chuckles, "She's a good kid. Very intelligent but she does have a mouth on her. Took a while for her to listen. I wish she never left."
"So what do you think about her, parenting wise?"
She sighs, "I think she has it in her to be a great mother. But you need to give her time as well as push her into uncomfortable situations. She has always been a person who will tell you straight and push you till you break. That's what made her a good lawyer."
"Nice to know."
Then mum looks at me with a mischievous smile, "So do you like her?"
"Mother."
"Your blushing."
"We are just friends and there is nothing more than that."
"Oh my love, there is so much more. And now you have a baby with her. You guys will figure it out one day, hopefully it's soon."
I chuckle lightly, "Don't you dare mum. I know what's one your mind right now."
We stop talking as we hear cheers from across the room. I can see Charlie and my dad drinking. Well taking ten shots.
There's one thing about my dad...he knows how to drink and he uses it to question a person.
Mum and I walk to the garden. We sit and talk for a while. It's nice catching up with her and letting her know of any issues I'm going through. My mum always wanted me to to become a lawyer but she was happy with whatever choice I made.
"I'm really proud of you Laura. I can tell this next book will be very interesting."
"Thank you mum."
We get up and walk back inside to see them now on the floor playing cards with a bottle of Scotch each.
Charlie looks up at me then stands up, slightly stumbling.
She wraps her arms around my waist and looks down me. "You know how to drive right?"
Laughing I nod, "Yes I do. And yes I'll drive us back."
She then leans down and places a soft kiss on my lips, "Can we go back to my place? I feel like you haven't had the joy of being there more."
"Sure thing. Now remember what our rules were?"
I feel her lips against my ear, "Let's just forget about the rules tonight."
"Your drunk. Now let's grab our stuff and go."
Her hands snakes down to my ass with her lips now on my neck. The skin to skin contact, brings me chills. Luckily my parents are talking to each other at the other side of the room. My mum seems to be laughing at dad.
Oh. No.
"Umm Laura."
"Yep. I can feel it. Now stand behind me," I instruct.
