LAURA
I'm wearing a red pantsuit with a matching red shirt which is nearly unbuttoned fully and complimented with a red lace bra. Wearing this weirdly feels a lot more comfortable than a dress as the blazer is slightly hiding the baby bump.
As I walk downstairs in my stilettos, my mum walks out of the kitchen and smiles at me.
"You look amazing darling! Okay now let's go!"
I chuckle lightly as we leave the house and make our way to the event. My mums name has been thrown around the city as being one of the most distinguished lawyer you can find. Her firm is popular here as well as most of the world. So going to an event like this is on brand for her.
Walking into the building, we are faced with some familiar faces. Cami said she would be here but I guess she hasn't got here yet. I can see some people which my mother has told me about.
We spend the next hour talking and introducing ourselves to some people. In the process, I have been texting Cami. She says that she's five minutes away which has been reassuring. I wish I could drink right now but unfortunately this bottle of water is all I can have.
My mums on her second glass of champagne.
I'm so jealous right now.
"Laura!" My best friend screams from across the room, my mum snickering as the room grows quiet. Cami catches on and turns bright red in embarrassment. Mark snakes an arm around her waist then whispers in her ear.
She chuckles but then he shouts, "Laura come here! It's your friends!"
I can't help but walk towards them with the largest grin. Cami hugs me tightly then Mark does, "So any reason why you both decided to disturb the peace?"
Mark scoffs, "I ain't letting my girlfriend embarrass herself alone." We all laugh lightly while catching up. He then looks up and smirks, "There's Charlie. I'm going to say hello. Do you both want anything to drink? A water or juice?"
My eyes reach Charlie's from across the room, she grows a large smile and waves. Then a short brunette walks next to her, and whispers something to her. She chuckles at her, getting distracted instantly.
The two proceed to talk then Mark joins them.
"Do you know who that is?"
Cami raises a brow, "I think that's Hannah Dunmore. She's some big shot realtor and developer. She's very nice from what I've heard and single. Hmm Charlie really does get them all I guess."
I roll my eyes, "Yes she does."
"She's not the only one. I've seen about ten guys staring at you. You look gorgeous by the way."
"Thank you! You look very hot."
We get interrupted with someone clearing their throat, it's a tall man with dark hair and vibrant hazel eyes. He smiles at me while staring deep into my soul. It's quite intimidating.
"Hey, is there anyway I could buy you a drink then maybe talk about your latest book?"
"Firstly, the drinks here are free. And secondly, how'd you know I'm a writer?"
