Conner's mouth gapes at me as I explain to him how Dr. Hanson experimented on me and somehow switched our powers.

Conner closes his mouth and puts his hands on his hips, "This is incredible! We have to tell the Professor."

I roll my eyes mentally. With his mind reading capabilities I wouldn't be surprised if he already knows.

My mind then focuses on Logan. I hope he is alright. I wish I could just call him.

Before I even realize it, Conner grabs my hand and pulls me towards the school, "Let's test these powers out." I still can't even believe I'm still a mutant. I stare at Conner's hand in mine and giggle internally like a little school girl. I try not to smile but it's hard not to with a guy like Conner.

As Conner leads me down empty hallways, I can't help but think of Dr. Hanson. I really hope the only thing we switched was our powers and not our personality or physique. What if he's hurting people like I did with my powers at this moment?

I tense. What if he's controlling Logan and the team? What if he uses them to fight against us!

I have to find the Professor. I let go of Conner's hand (with regret) and he stops to look at me.

"I need to talk to the Professor right now." I need to make sure the team is okay.

Conner smirks, "I understand, but we're coming back to the tunnels to test these new badass powers."

I smile at him, "Let's go." We walk side by side heading to the Professor's office. I sneak a glance at Conner. I hope he's not sick of being around me. Hell, I'd be sick of hanging around me.

When we arrive at his office, I almost have to mentally prepare myself. This guy can read minds! What if he's reading mine right now. I gulp but turn the handle anyways. Here goes nothing.

I see Professor at a desk writing on paper.

He smiles when he sees me, "Hello Charlee," he looks at Conner, "And Conner."

I sit down in a chair across from his desk getting goosebumps from the cold leather. He probably already knows what I'm going to ask.

I go anyways, "I want to make sure Logan and the team is alright."

The Professor continues to smile, "I assure you Charlee Logan has everything under control and if there comes a time when they need your help you'll be the first to know. Now, I want to be the first to congratulate you on your new abilities. I suspected a difference with you, but I couldn't pinpoint exactly the issue, but now I see. Dr. Hanson gave you a remarkable gift. Embrace it, and you can hopefully someday make the world a better place." I smile back at him and feel my heart race in excitement. He's right! There's a whole bright future ahead of me. A future I can pave myself.

"Thank you. Well I'll go now. Let me know if anything changes with the team." With that, I leave the Professor's office smiling. I hold my had up and a blue spark erupts from my palm, and I smile wider. I could get used to this. I hated my abilities before because I hated the idea of manipulating others and becoming evil. Ironically, I could see myself embracing this gift as an extension of myself. Instead of feeling darkness within me my powers could actually help people!

Conner leads me to the tunnels where apparently mutants like me could test their powers without setting the place to ruins. It had a thick metal door, bricked cylindrical walls, and a rocky ground.

Conner sets up a mannequin with a target on the chest and positions for me to shoot at it fifteen feet away.

Conner steps behind me and motions for me to go ahead. I lift my hand up and fire barely even getting my new powers two feet in front of me. Basically, a blue wave of energy would emerge from my hands and then spread out. I wondered if I could shape the electricity in front of me into shapes like the wizards could in Harry Potter, but I didn't want to try.
