Harmony in Hues

Chapter 6

"Teka! Where are you taking me?" I heard myself giggle.

Eh? Giggle? Bakit parang may mali? Bakit parang may bulate sa tiyan ko? I am currently dragged by someone who's face I cannot see. Sino ba 'to? At bakit sabik na sabik ako? I stared at our hands holding each other. I look around and saw cherry blossoms everywhere. Nasa Japan ba ako?

"Dito!" She finally said.

We stopped somewhere I couldn't figure out. Basta malayo kami sa mga tao. All I know is that kaming dalawa lang. She then faced me and I saw Jaycee. Napakurap ako.

"Jaycee?" I asked.

She smiled. "I have something for you."

Naguguluhan ako pero bakit ako nakangiti?

She took something from her back and handed it to me. Kumunot yung noo ko nang makita ang isang tub ng chocolate ice cream.

"Charan!" She expressed her surprise.

"Para saan 'to?" Tanong ko at tinanggap naman yun.

"Wala lang," she shrug her shoulders. "Feel ko lang nap-pressure ka na para sa games. As our ace, dapat nasa tamang kondisyon ka. So I thought an ice cream would calm you."

"You don't have to."

Hinawakan niya yung kamay ko kaya napatitig ako sa kanya. We stared at each other's eyes as our face went closer and closer. Napalunok ako habang nakatitig sa mga labi niya. I'm slowly inching our gap and yet my body refuses to move away. It's as if I don't have control over it. Teka!

"Fvck!" I exclaimed the moment I opened my eyes.

My heart started thumping really fast. Ramdam ko din yung pawis na tumutulo mula sa noo ko. Huli ko nang napagtanto na panaginip lang pala ang lahat. I took a deep breath. That was close!

Kinuha ko yung phone ko para matingnan yung oras. It's 3 am.

I looked around and was welcomed by a dark room. Ang tanging ilaw na nagbibigay ng liwanag sa gabi ay ang buwan. Bet ng mga ka-atleta ko na off lahat ng lights kaya pati outdoor lights ay naka-off.

Buti nalang walang nagising sa biglaan kong pagsigaw. Well, siguro napagod ang lahat sa byahe at sa pasyalan. I remember having stroll in the park with Jaycee earlier. Teka. Jaycee.

I turn my head to the person sleeping beside me. Si Jaycee. She's sleeping peacefully while facing my direction. I can't help but to turn my body towards her. Her hand is in front of her face, resting on the bedsheet. God knows how close we are considering we are sharing the same mat. Kanina pinagwalang-bahala ko lang. Walang malisya kasi parehas naman kaming babae. But why do I feel weird now?

Itinaas ko ang sariling kamay, gustong hawakan ang kamay niya. I feel like it's inviting me to intertwine her fingers to mine. I feel giddy at the thought.

I stopped midway. What am I doing? Why am I being weird? Is this what they all call a 3 am thought?

Pinilig ko ang aking ulo saka binawi ang kamay. Kulang ito sa tulog. Tama. Paniguradong napagod ako sa byahe at kailangan kong magpahinga. I turned my body to the other side and drifted back to sleep.

I stared blankly at Philip who's running with the ball as he tried to shoot, in which he did. Magaling si Philip. Kaya nga siya ang naging captain ball ng basketball team. Ito din ang isa sa mga nagustuhan ko sa kanya— his perseverance. Kapag may gusto kasi siya  ay pinupursige niya. He's passionate and that is what I admire about him.
