song: do i wanna know? - arctic monkeys
❀ ·˚ ༘ ∘MY HEART WAS racing as my boots clacked on the floor below me. I'm supposed to meet with Donovan today, and I'm not sure what to expect. Everything last night was a complete blur.
The way Gray said he'd protect me the best he could, but it's just part of the agreement. Everything, all this he's doing is all part of the agreement. I needed to get that inside my head.
While Gray was busy, Spade was talking to me. He was talking and saying all these things like, "y'know, it's so weird. I've never seen Grayson do all these things with anyone else. I'd never even thought he would."
Spade went on and explained how Gray has never had a girl walk around in his t-shirts, he's never had a girl sleep in his bed, he's never called another girl nicknames. Spade and I both thought that Gray would never do that for the life of him.
But here we are. And it's all part of the stupid agreement anyways. It's nothing real. Once everything settles down, the contract will be broken and I'll take Esme and go, I'll never see him again. But why is some part of me still wishing that it didn't have to be like this?
I needed to stop. I had to focus. We were now currently standing in front of two large double doors, they opened immediately just as Spade was about to knock. I had a gun in my waistband, Spade and Gray had two in theirs.
I'm not sure if it came down to it, that I'd be able to use these. If anything, I'd probably just waste all the bullets by shooting without aiming. I don't do good in high panic situations. My brain goes all fuzzy and I'm not able to think straight.
I couldn't think straight all of last night. The way we made a pinky promise again, and the way he kissed our pinkies, a soft light kiss. I know it meant nothing but to me it meant something.
I tried to clear my thoughts of the man standing just right beside me, our knuckles skimming one another, none of us daring to move.
"Welcome back!" An old man with a white beard came and greeted Gray and Spade. I stood behind Gray, fearful all of a sudden. He smiled at them and suddenly stopped, shoving Gray aside to see me.
"Wow, and you must be Athena?" I nodded with a shy smile, suddenly aware of the pressing gun metal towards my belly. He stuck his hand out for me to shake and I took it, his grip getting stronger the longer we held.
"We brought her, now where's Jackson." Gray didn't even ask, he demanded. "Ah, yes. Right this way." Donovan retreated back into the room and as I rounded the corner of the entrance hallway, I saw Jackson, tied up with a gag in his mouth. His hands were bound in front of him and his feet tied together.
His eyes immediately found mine, they widened. He was trying to tell me something, but I didn't know what. I had a feeling his plan is not going to work out. I pinched a piece of fabric at Gray's sleeve, huddling closer to him.
