━━━━ warriors is a massive and amazing series, and it's stories have inspired so many within the fandom to write their own adventures within its universe.

but how do you go about it?

there is no specific set 'right' or 'wrong' for starting your stories. but you want to captivate your readers, drag them in and keep them wanting more.

coming up with a plot can be a difficult thing to do, but if you put your mind to it it's possible. there is a lot that you can take inspiration from, like music, animations, films, other books. a common go—to for the warriors fandom are original character stories. they are everywhere, if you click the search tab and type in 'warriors', a mass of fan—fictions dedicated to oc's will appear.

the most important step to developing any idea is to ask yourself the following questions:

━━ does the plot make sense?
━━ is the plot interesting?
━━ is it too cliché?

does your story make sense? if you pitch your idea to others and they are confused, then the likelihood of it not making sense is high. is the story coherent?

is your story interesting? would you like to pick it up off a shelf of it was in a bookstore or a library? if the answer is no, then you need to rethink your ideas. pitch ideas to peers, their reaction to it can give you a clear indication on if it's interesting. if you, the author, cannot get into it properly, or are struggling to continue, you may need to switch up ideas and plots you have in mind.

is your story cliché? while they may not all be a bad idea, if you don't do anything interesting with them, then you're just joining the masses. execution of the plot is key. common cliché's are love triangles and forbidden relationships. do note that they have the potential to be great, new and fresh, but effort is needed to make them succeed.

the trick is to find common plot points, change them and expand on them. be different.

plotting is essentially mapping out the order of the events that will occur in the story. every story has a beginning, middle and end.

it's good to write down ideas and plan out each of your chapters. you don't need a lot of detail with the planning, as it's just a basic outline. it's helpful and is something that i myself do. whether you pre—plan chapters, or plan chapters as you go along, both work out.

example of basic planning:

━━ one: character becomes apprentice ,
━━ character does . . .

this will make it so much easier for you to start a story, as you'll have a clear plan on what to do, and what you could do. of course, you don't have to always follow the points you made — you can switch them up as you go along if you think what you had before doesn't fit plot—line or characters.

━━━━ while the main plot is the main focus, side plots can be beneficial for development, and can aid with keeping readers interested

━━━━ while the main plot is the main focus, side plots can be beneficial for development, and can aid with keeping readers interested. they might not contribute to the climax, but still have substance. side plots, like main plots, have beginnings, middles and ends — but aren't as intricate as the central plot. there's some buildup to a conflict, then its resolved.

there are lots of examples of sub—plots within the warriors books themselves. and subplots don't have to be thoroughly planned out like the main plot, but keeping a beginning, middle, end model in mind is a thing to consider and keep to.

there is an additional plot type called an overarching plot — which spans across an entire series, not just one book. this can be seen in the first four arcs of warriors.

the main plot of them is to closer to the real conflict. if one of the stories doesn't contribute to the build up, they are fillers.

you will need to consider the necessary steps needed to get to the overall conflict and how to incorporate it into your story. foreshadowing helps greatly.

━━━━ everyone loves a good plot twist, as they can really throw readers off their track. there may be hints, but the twists aren't expected. they can be good when following a cliché storyline, and can be used to add hints that point away from twists, which are called red herrings — but with this, you have to be careful, try too hard and you'll blow your cover, and the distraction won't work.
