━━━━ while some may think fancy fonts and funky symbols may look nice, they aren't always a needed aspect for a book. the form and design of your book will make it much more inviting and readable. coming from someone who cannot read a lot of different fonts, or excessive italics, it can be very off—putting, and i will put a book down if i can not make sense of what's written.

a lot of time should be invested into the way your book looks. if a page looks clumsy and cluttered, it may scare away readers before they even get to the main aspect of your book.

a readable font must be picked. if you cannot read it, then what makes you think others will?

a readable font is any typeface that is easy on the eyes and comfortable to read over a hundred pages or more. don't be afraid of being "boring", or like every other author who uses the same font — as the fonts you see in books have been specifically created to be used in books.

while reading, you shouldn't be focusing on the font, but the words within the book itself. if you wish to spice up your book, do so with your book title or chapter titles.

your font should be a suitable size. if your font is too big, it'll be considered a "large print" edition, and if it is too small your readers may need a magnifying glass. this doesn't count towards wattpad, as readers are in charge of how small or large the font is, what don't they use, and the colours of their page.

indenting the first paragraph is commonly used in books. i've seen it with some authors work on here, for both books and roleplays and is used by a lot of authors. indenting helps your text look less blocky.

" this is an example of an indented sentence. a gap will be present in front of the words, and the rest will flow and fill out a paragraph normally. "

chapter beginning's are different from the chapters and writing on them. each chapter must be on a new page, and can be styled uniquely with fonts, forms of decoration and different colours should the author wish to make the page pop and stand out.

it's recommended that chapter numbers/titles are distinct from the main text, so altering the font for them can be helpful, and won't be frowned upon.
