CAPITAL ONE ARENA

8:30 P.M.

Jordan Poole

"How you feelin', man?" Kyle asks me as we do warmups. "First game Luna's attending, how are those nerves?"

"Nervous as hell, man," I admitted. "All I know is that I'm about to play my entire ass off."

Kyle smirks in amusement. "So what? You're about to drop 40 on everyone's heads because your girl here?"

"Hell yeah," I chuckled. "Wouldn't you do the same thing if Winnie was here?"

Kyle paused then laughed, nodding his head. "Most definitely."

"Do you know if it's just her that's coming or is she bringing the rest of her siblings?" Corey asks me.

"As far as I know, it's just her," I replied. "But, its cool if she brings her sisters and brother, too. They're cool people."

Tyus smirks at me and then discreetly nodded his head towards the stands and I paused, turning around and seeing Luna walking towards her seat with Aria and Christian at her side, along with a girl I didn't recognize, whom Aria kept side-eying. Immediately every worry or piece of nerve that I had washed away just by looking at her. Luna glanced over at me and smiled brightly, waving at me as she sat down in between Aria and the unfamiliar girl.

I didn't walk, I jogged over to Luna. Once I reached her, we did our handshake, ending with me kissing the back of her hand. I then hugged Aria and dapped up Christian. I was about to say hi to the unfamiliar girl, but stopped once I realized she was giving me a death stare, which kind of concerned me because I didn't know this girl from a can of paint yet she was glaring at me like I had killed her dog or something.

"Jordan, you better do some magical shit tonight," Aria scolds. "Because I definitely made a bet with my brother when it came to y'all winning tonight! Do not lose this for me because if you do, I will have to resort to kidnapping you and that won't be good because my dear sister lov–OUCH!"

Luna glared at Aria, pinching her forearm. "LEAVE him alone," she says. "You're gonna do great, mi amor. I know you are."

Was Aria about to say that Luna loves me?

This right here made me realize that maybe this was the sign that I should just suck it up, seize the moment, and tell her. But how? I didn't want to outright tell her in front of everyone, I wanted it to be an intimate moment between the two of us.

I'll tell her after the game...

I smiled brightly and kissed the top of Luna's forehead. "Thank you, ma."

"You're Luna's alleged boyfriend?" the unfamiliar girl says, giving me a disapproving twice over.

"What the fuck..." Both Aria and Christian mumbled, glancing at Lana suspiciously.

I frowned. "Not alleged. I am her boyfriend," I replied. "Who are you?"

Luna looked between the unknown girl and me then smiled softly. "Jordan, this is Lana," she says. "Lana, this is my boyfriend of five months, Jordan."

"Nice to meet you," I said to Lana.

Lana simply glanced at me and turned her attention to her phone, ignoring my existence with a slight eye roll. Everything about this girl and her attitude rubbed me the wrong way. The vibe she was giving me was possessive, controlling, and manipulative. I knew that Luna wasn't seeing it because Lana clearly portrayed herself to be a different person, but judging by the slight attitude she gave me and the way Aria was glaring a grenade-size hole in the back of Lana's head, I knew that this girl was nothing but bad news.
