5 - Fever Dream

[ It's 8 a.m. Mika gets up and checks on Schlatt, who's still running a fever and asleep.

He looks down at their friend, then leaves shutting the door. He spots Pandah in the kitchen, cooking. ]

Mika: We're going today. If we can't get her today we get her tomorrow.

Pandah: Right. Here.

[ He sets a plate of eggs and toast on the table for them. ]

Pandah: Eat it. We need every once of strength that you got.

[ Mika nods as they both eat in silence. They soon finish, and then both go to prepare.

Mika wears his torn uniform, his cut hasn't healed at all so its still wrapped. On his side is Aztro's dagger.

Pandah has his uniform on, the gun and extra ammo strapped at his hips. ]

Mika: . . . Let's go.

[ Three years earlier. It seems to be one of their first missions. ]

Schlatt: Everyone keep their radios on, when you find loot bring it back to the entrance, check the time, tell everyone on the radio, then look for more.

Aztro: Aye aye captain!

Mika: I thought you were the captain..

Pandah: Its clearly because she's too pussy to actually give orders.

Aztro: Oh says the person half dead when it comes to a bug.

[ The two bicker back and forth as they head towards the building. ]

Schlatt: We need to get done before eight, if not it gets dangerous in there and out here.

[ Mika nods listening. ]

Mika: Are you sure splitting up into two groups isn't needed?

Schlatt: . . . We can do that. Aztro, Pandah!

[ The two turn towards them. ]

Schlatt: You two are partners, stick together.

Aztro: Okay!

[ Pandah looks nervous, but Schlatt gives a nod of approval. ]

Mika: The hazard level was D so we should be mostly safe..

Schlatt: Yeah maybe just those bug things but thats it.

[ The arrive at the building, immediately getting to work. Aztro and Pandah went the right way, so they went the left way.

They have trouble finding any loot, they decided to split off for a bit after finding multiple doors on a balcony way. ]

Schlatt: [ This place is complete shit.. ]

[ He exits the room he was in, back on the balcony. Walking towards the next room he hears buzzing behind him.

He turns to face whatever it is, but slips. He falls off the balcony because of the open rail, but catches himself before he falls. His radio goes off, but falls into the void, after a few seconds he hears it crash.

The thing that buzzed was a bug creature. It hovers above him. ]

Schlatt: Mika?! MIKA I NEED SOME HELP HERE-

[ The bug becomes annoyed by his screaming, going to push his hands off the edge, but before so something black cuts its head clean off, the bug falls in two.

Mika: Take my hand!

[ At first Schlatt didn't think it was Mika, due to the fact the black bar he always saw covering his eyes wasn't there. It was over by the bug.

So now he looks at his blue-grey eyes for the first time, and grabs his hand.

Mika pulls him up, the both of them sit on the balcony. ]

Mika: That was..

Schlatt: Close. Thank you.

Mika: Not a problem. Look what I found.

[ He holds a golden rubber ducky. He squeeks it and giggles. ]

Mika: Cute right?

Schlatt: Yeah..

Mika: You keep it.

[ He hands him the duck then gets up to grab their black bar.

He cleans it of the bug juice and blood with a bottle of water he carries and hand sanitizer than puts it back on. ]

Mika: Hey Aztro, Pandah find anything?

R - Aztro: Yeah a fuck ton of stuff, it's seven so get your asses back here!

R - Pandah: Guys we saw one of those bug things and you wouldn't believe how loud Aztro screamed-

R - Aztro: Well he pissed his pants!

R - Pandah: No I didn't!

[ Mika mutes the radio turning to Schlatt, who's still on the ground.

Mika offers their hand, Schlatt takes it, putting the rubber ducky in his pocket.

The two begin their track to the exit. ]

Schlatt: . . . What's with the black bar?

Mika: Oh. So it's.. okay it doesn't have a name yet but what it does is the following: See in dark lit places, analyze if there is any loot or danger ahead of me, I can use it as a weapon like you saw, and sunglasses.

Schlatt: Did you make it?

Mika: Yep! I was a pretty bored kid so I taught myself have to make gadgets.

Schlatt: Cool, cool..

[ Silence. ]

Mika: Wanna try it on?

Schlatt: Uh.. hard pass.

Mika: Okay.

Schlatt: Why does it cover your eyes specifically?

Mika: The uses.

Schlatt: No like.. You've worn that even before you started this job its on your record.

Mika: . . . Okay privacy breach-

Schlatt: Sorry sorry!

Mika: I usually just hide my eyes, sometimes I just don't like my face so it makes me comfortable with it on.

Schlatt: Oh.

[ They arrive outside, the sun is setting. They grab the left over loot Aztro and Pandah left and make it for the ship. ]

Mika: So you know my real name isn't Mikasacus?

Schlatt: Yes, Alex.

[ They shudder. ]

Mika: Don't call me that unless it's something very important, like before.

Schlatt: Alright.

Mika: Thanks.

Schlatt: No problem.
