"How can we prove that Blake was cheating?" Max questioned. They had tried to inform Professor Reynolds but he ignored them.

"He might also cheat in the combat competition." Lucas pointed out. The duo combat competition was coming up a few hour after the Hyperball competition.

"I think it is going to be a fair match, you can use your Mech tool, remember?" Caden said.

"I hope we can win this one." Jaxon added, "If the Eagles also win this one, they could easily win the whole competition."

"Don't forget about the Mech trivia. We have Caden!" Aria reminded him. "If Blake wins this one, it isn't over yet."

"And, we have no idea if Blake can win it or not." Cassia continued. "Maybe the Sharks might win!"

"Yeah maybe." Jaxon replied unenthusiastically with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. Then as if he realised something, Jaxon added, "It's not that I want them to lose, but it would be better if we won."

"I'm sure Aria and Caden are going to do really well, Lucas too. But I think my blade is useless." Max admitted sadly, "Professor Reynolds had warned everyone that your Mech tool can not be used to fatally harm your opponent. Mine will be no use."

"Are you sure that your blade has only one use?" Caden suddenly asked curiously. "I read that the higher level you are, the more impressive your Mech tool is."

"Me too!" Cassia nodded hearing Caden, "In Mech history and science class, I remember that we learned about a person from long ago. I don't remember his name but I remember that he was a also a level nine like you."

"Oh yeah!" Jaxon interrupted. "His Mech tool was a metallic pincher, at the start, it was practically useless but after, he discovered that it could create a little tornado to suck enemies closer!"

"So are you sure you don't have any cool powers like that?" Aria asked lastly. Max shrugged, he wished he could summon a tornado.

"I don't know, maybe, but probably not." Max replied, he almost sounded hopeful. "If I could summon a tornado, then this competition would be a 'walk in a park'!"

"What happened to the level nine man?" Lucas eagerly asked Cassia.

"I don't know, I think he accomplished some thing or another, but I don't remember. At that time, I thought he was just another boring old historical figure that had a power that might not even exist." Cassia replied.

"Oh, okay. But I still think Max will have another power." Lucas said, "Do you remember how that man found out his power?" Cassia shook her head, showing that she was not good at remembering stuff.

"I think it was when he tried to use it." Caden closed his eyes and start sorting through his memory. "I think it he found out when he got angered. I'm not sure."

Suddenly, dots began to connect in Max's head. He thought back to when he first discovered his powers.

"It was when I got furious at Mr Beckon." Max muttered silently. "If Caden is right, then anger may be the key part!" The his thoughts wandered to when he had first summoned out his Mech tool at will. He had wanted to quit, but hope kept him going. 'Hope', 'anger'... A brave guess began to erupt in his mind.

"Max, back to Earth!" Lucas suddenly called, interrupting Max's thoughts. "Or should I say, back to PS-234?"

"Come on Max. The competition is about to start." Aria suggested, "Is something wrong?"

Max shook his head, showing that he was fine, "I just had an interesting thought. Nothing else."

"And what's your interesting thought." Jaxon questioned curiously. "We were walking forwards and then  you suddenly stopped, staring into the horizon."

Max smiled, embarrassed. "It just that I thought of something." He said, then he asked Caden, "Do you know how a person summons their Mech tool for the first time?"

"I don't know, maybe through connection?" Caden replied, slightly confused, "Why did you ask that?"

Max nodded thoughtfully, "I just realised the first time the summoned my Mech tool was when I was angry, the second time was when I hoped for it really badly. Think of it, both times I have summoned my Mech tool, there was always a strong emotion. Could it be a pattern?"

Lucas glanced at Max and furrowed his brow in contemplation. Suddenly, he exclaimed, "Max might be onto something! When I first summoned my Mech tool, it was out of excitement. I was really thrilled, and then I felt something land on my hand. It turned out to be my Mech tool! I couldn't believe it at first, but there it was, on my right hand!"

"Oh, I had the same thing happen to me!" Aria exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement. Max's observation was met with enthusiastic agreement from the group, who all nodded and chimed in with their own similar experiences.

Max felt a surge of hope when his friends agreed with his guess, strengthening his belief that he might be correct. He was confident that the next time he summoned his Mech tool, something significant would change.
