The court was ginormous. Rows of seats curved around the centre like a football stadium. It was meant to be for a massive amount to spectators, but only around thirty spectators came. They sat on the seats without order. Max blinked, he had imagined a crowd of spectators, encouraging the judge to punish him more. But instead...

"Max!" A familiar voice called for the spectator area. He looked up, he saw nineteen grinning faces waving their hands at him.

"Max!" They shouted again as Max noticed them. Max waved back, happy to see that his orphan friends had all came.

"Silence!" A strong voice bellowed followed by the thumping of a hammer. It was the judge. He was an old man; his once hair had all turned white and glowed under the light of the court. He wore thick glasses and his eyes showed strength and justice.

"I announce that the trail begins!" The judge interrupted the silence that had descended. He waited until the few polite claps faded and continued, "As I gathered that this young fellow here, Max Bentlin, had committed an action hurting Mr Beckon. The owner of Beckon orphanage in the outskirts of Hemisville. Am I right?"

"Yes, Sir." Mr Beckon replied, showing his wound. The judge glimpsed at it and continued looking straight at Mr beckon, "Mr Beckon, I understood from reports that you have committed the act of slavery which is highly illegal. Am I right?"

"No, Sir." Mr Beckon immediately disagreed while the judge stare suspiciously at Mr Beckon, "I didn't do it."

"He intended to do it!" Max complained, "If I didn't stop him, he would have done it!"

"And you stopped him by using a blade to wound him?" The judge asked calmly.

"That was the only way." Davis' voice came from the crowd. "If he didn't do that, I would be sold to slavery!"

"Thank you for your opinion." The judge commented sarcastically, "I didn't know that."

"Well..." Davis muttered embarrassed.

"Now, I have gathered enough information of the decision." The judge said ignoring Davis.

"But..." Mr Beckon interrupted; however, the judge had already decided.

"Mr Beckon, your trail is six months in prison. Not more arguments. And Max, your trail is three months in juvenile jail."

"Three months!" Max thought, "Three months can't be that bad!"

"It's not fair!" Mr Beckon wailed, "Six months!"

"Well unless someone can bail you out. Six months is the punishment!"

"Wait. I want to bail Max out!" A firm voice said. Max looked towards the voice in astonishment. It was from a tall muscular man, beside him were his two helpers.

"Mr Brown!" Max shouted in surprise. Mr Brown smiled; his expression wasn't as cold as last time they had met.

"How much?" Mr Brown stood up and inquired.

The judge stared at Mr Brown unsure why he would bail out the kid. "Three thousand gold."

"Three thousand gold." Mr Brown repeated while he fumbled for the money. Mr Beckon stare at this open mouthed, cursing his bad luck. Life was so unfair. He sighed forcing back his fury.

"Why?" Max asked Mr Brown after the trail. "Why would you help me?"

"We can't afford for you to wait." Mr Brown started to explain, "The Squad needs you as quick as possible to go there and train. You and your friend are already almost two months late!" He said the last sentence with a hint of smile on his face.

"Wait, why me and my friend?" Max asked highly confused.

Mr Brown smiled at Max's question as if he already knew Max was going to ask that. "Good news, the Squad also sent a few members to do the blood test with the orphans. Did you realize one of them is missing from the crowd."

Suddenly, it hit Max that Lucas was missing. "Do you mean that Lucas..."

"Yes, he is also a Mech-man." Mr Brown concluded.

Max glanced at Mr Brown, he didn't seem like a person that would be joking. Max smiled for the first time that day, "Maybe, my worst day could turn into my best day!" He thought and followed Mr Brown out of the station.
