‘When did you see me?’
“Well I don’t remember which day it was but I was almost a year after the fake girl. You were in a green shirt and brown pants, you had an axe in your belt, on your arms and head were mocking jays and when you finished your tunes all the mocking jays would copy them. Your hair was down and you were smiling, I guess it was the first time you had friends.”
I remember that day the one day I could get the mocking jays to actually sit on my arm and sing with me. I had brought a bit of bread crumbs from the piece of bread I had for lunch that day. I remember laughing that day because my hard work had paid off and I had friends. One of the young mocking jays became my friend that day. Jay I had named him, he always had a bit of my lunch and he would fly from tree to tree with me and he would sing with me all the time while I was working. He was never scared of me and I had something to look forward to in the forest.
“I knew exactly who you were and I realised that I would have to learn how to talk with you, otherwise you could be telling me anything and I wouldn’t be able to understand you. So I began to learn sign language.” He says
‘And to climb trees.’
“Yes and to climb trees.” He says laughing, I smile. This is the first conversation I’ve had with someone since Jessica but also with someone from home who isn’t my parents. I like talking with Tyler it’s different than talking with my parents my parents talk to me more as a child Tyler talks to me as if we are already best friends, now that we can communicate together.
