A M E R I C A── THE MOMENT THE COOL southern air hit Sophia's face she knew there was no going back. Vernon and Dee had so graciously picked both young girls up from the airport and brought them to the mansion.
Sophia peered out of the window unable to fathom the amount of girls waiting at the gate. It was deja vu all over again.
The girls slammed their opened fists against the sleek black car, trying to get the smallest glimpse of whoever was entering the property. Priscilla leaned back from the window at the commotion while Sophia laughed at a few of the girls who were weeping.
"Is there usually this many?" Priscilla quirked her brow, looking over to Vernon who watched through the mirror.
"Believe it or not, there's usually more." Dee whisped running a hand over her bleached hair. Her usual large hair seemed larger than last time they'd seen her. Her red finger nails tapping against the crunchy hairspray.
Sophia gawked at the long driveway, the soft trees swaying lightly in the cool breeze. The green grass perfectly persevered and a few cars parked along the drive.
Sophia leaned to get a closer look at the approaching house. The large white home welcoming the two new girls with open arms. The curtains were drawn and only a small window was open on the left side of the house.
"Now, don't be scared." Dee caressed her hair one last time, snapping her make up mirror shut. Her sugary sweet voice made Sophia want to cringe.
The car halted infront of the small mansion. The house seemed a lot bigger from up close than it did from afar. Sophia had seen pictures of this infamous house, she recognized the stone steps from pictures of Elvis after his mother died only a few years ago.
Butterfly's flew in her stomach as soon as the door opened. The air sifted through her nostrils feeling oddly comforting like it had been waiting for her.
"Come on kiddies," Dee assured pulling Priscilla out of the car.
Sophia emerged next from the car, the bright sun gleaming into her hazel eyes. She shifted her eyes to the closed door. It seemed too good to be true. She'd almost forgotten about everything that happened in the last 2 years. Almost.
Dee ushered the girls to the door, the door swung open. A bigger lady stood broadly smiling with her arms wide.
"Oh my gawd!" She wrapped an arm around stunned Priscilla, "This ain't the same lil Priscilla from Germany!"
Priscilla let out a muffled giggle from the woman's large arms. Dodger laughed patting Priscilla on the back. She whispers something sweet to Priscilla and pinching her cheek inbetween her fingers.
