Chapter 1

Piper’s POV

“I am soooo hungry,” I loudly complained to my roommate. “Why do we have nothing to eat?”

“We have plenty to eat!” My roommate, Riley, yelled back from the living room where she was watching Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. I looked back into the open fridge and then sighed as I closed the door.

“I mean there’s nothing I want to eat,” I walked into the living room and came up behind the couch where Riley was sitting. “Can we go out? Please?”

I leaned down so my head rested beside her shoulder on the back of the couch. “Pretty please?”

I heard her sigh and then crack a smile and I knew she had given in. “Fine, lets go.”

“Yes,” I cheered jumping up. “Food, here we come!”

I ran to the front door and grabbed my jacket and bag and wait for Riley to get reading while she grabbed her purse and phone from the coffee table. We exited the flat that we had been living in for the past 3 months. We both had adjusted to London quickly, though it was very different from Edmonton. More crowded but then so much warmer in the winter.

“You’re so immature,” Riley said and chuckled at my behavior.

“And that’s why you love me,” I said and grinned. We both hopped in the car and I turned on the radio.

“So where do you want to go?” I asked Riley.

“It was your idea so it’s up to you,” She said while she started driving down the road.

“Ummm, how about Mickey D’s?”

“Sounds good,”

A One Direction song came on the radio and me and Riley both gave each other a knowing look and then loudly started singing along with “Kiss You”. I don’t really remember how it started but One Direction has always been ‘our’ band and whenever one of their songs came on we had to loudly, sing along off key. We both sort of liked the band and their music but we defiantly weren’t fangirls.

After a short while we arrived at MacDonald’s and I hopped out of the car with Riley following beside me.

“You’re so cute, Piper,” Riley laughed.

“I know right,” I laughed along with her.

We ordered and sat down at one of the tables to wait for our food to be ready.

“So, how’s Jack?” I asked and Riley blushed. Jack was a guy in Riley’s class who she had a huge crush on. I met him one time when I went to pick Riley up one day and he was really cute. I couldn’t blame Riley for liking him, if she didn’t have a crush on him I might have.

“Shut up,” Riley said and lightly hit me on the arm.

“Who’s Jack?” I heard a deep voice say from behind me and I saw Riley’s eyes flicker up and stare for a moment before looking back down at me with a strange expression on her face. I jumped slightly at the unexcpected voice but recovered quickly.

The guy that was behind me moved and sat down in one of the empty chairs at the table. Riley and I were sitting across from each other so he sat beside both of us.

I saw his face first the first time, but not a lot of it. He was wearing a dark green beanie that covered most of his hair but of few brown curls had escaped from the sides. Large black sunglasses covered his eyes and he had a couple little pimples scattered on his face. He wore a black t-shirt and jeans. A very plain look and from what I could see he appeared to be about our age, 19 or so. He looked quite familiar.

“A guy she likes,” I say grinning at the stranger who immediately grinned back, showing off his dimples.

“Piper!” Riley yelled. She was blushing and clearly embarrassed which just made me laugh.

I reached my hand out to shake his and said, “I’m Piper and this is my bestie Riley,”

“I’m Harry,” He says and shakes my small hand with his large one. I love the name Harry for British people. A Canadian or American named Harry doesn’t sound really good but a British Harry sounds really cute.

“I like your accents,” He says and looks over at Riley. “Where are you girls from?”

“Canada,” Riley immediately replies.

“Oh, that’s cool.” Says Harry. “I don’t know a lot of Canadians.”

“Well, then we’re your girls. Canadians born and breed, through and through.”

“If I ever have any Canada questions, I’ll know who to come to,”

I was about to say something in reply when Riley interrupted me. “Looks like our orders ready, I’ll go get it.”

She got up and walked to the counter leaving Harry and me alone. He looked over at me and smiled but didn’t say anything.

“So Harry, what do you do for a living?” I ask as I rest my elbows on the table.

“I’m a performer,” He says and then leans forward mimicking my position and giving me a cheeky smile.

“So, like and actor or a singer or what?” I ask generally curious because he was being very vague.

“A singer,” I suddenly had a thought and realized why he looked so familiar.

“What’s your full name Harry?” I asked just as Riley came back with our food.

His grin faltered just a little and was then put back in place.

“Styles. Harry Styles.”
