Chapter 18

Piper’s POV

Ugh, what am I supposed to wear? Thanks a lot Eleanor. It was 6:15 now, and  they were coming to pick me up at 7:00.

I don’t know if this is just a casual dinner with friends or something dressier. Luckily, I got Eleanor’s number when we all went clubbing together.

From: Piper- Dress code?

From: Eleanor- Wear a dress, nothing too formal tho.

I frown at my phone. A dress, that isn’t too formal. This might take some digging.

“Riley!” I call out to the living room.

“What?” I hear her yell back from where I assume she is perched on the couch.

“Can you help me pick out a dress?” I yell back.

“For you date with Harry?” I hear her voice getting louder and footsteps making their way towards my room.

“It’s not a date, we are going out with Eleanor and Louis,” I clarify as she walks into my room.

“Yeah, on a double date,” She says emphasizing the word ‘date’.

“Whatever,” I say. “Eleanor told me to wear a dress, but nothing too formal,”

Riley ponders this for a moment while staring into my open closet.

“I think I have an idea,” She says after a little while and then I walks out of my room.

She comes back a short time later holding up a pink, lacey, pastel dress with a gold belt around the waist.

“Oh my god, Riley,” I say, running over to take the dress from her outstretched hands. “You’re a genius,”

“I know,” She says and flips her hair back. “I believe my work here is done,”

“Thanks!” I call out to her as she walks out of my room.

I change into the dress (luckily, me and Riley are almost the same size) and add my usual necklace, a pair of feather earrings and a cat ring that had been gift from my mom. I finish off with just some light make up and a pair of floral wedges.

I still have a little less than half and hour to kill, so I decided to style my hair. I pulled it up into a lace braid that lead into a loose bun, with a few strands hanging loose.

I finish and hear the doorbell ring as I grab my phone from my bedside table. I know that Riley will answer the door so I grab my keys and put both my phone and my keys in a bag. This time I didn’t mind carrying around a bag because it seemed less likely to lose it.

I jog down stairs to see just Harry standing in our living room talking to Riley. He is wearing a button-up shirt with a black blazer and black pants. His unruly curls are styled to look tamed but messy at the same time.

“Hey, Harry,” I say, making his eyes snap up at the sound of my voice. He looks over at my outfit and I see a smirk forming on his lips.

“Looking good,” He says.

“You too,” I smirk right back at him.

“Riley here was just warning me to treat you good on our ‘date’,”

“Of course she was,” I say exasperated.

“He better treat you right,” Says Riley, a grin tugging at her lips.

“Yes, Ma’am,” Harry fake salutes her. He turns to me. “Shall we?”

“We shall,” I reply and grab my grey jacket before leading Harry out my front door. Just as he is about to close it behind him I hear Riley yell.
