Chapter 17

Piper’s POV

I woke up with a pounding headache and I let out a groan. My cheek was pressed against a not-very-soft pillow so I wasn’t very comfortable. Eventually, I gave up on trying to go back to sleep and opened my eyes to the horribly bright light.

I groaned again, my headache getting worse.

“Sleeping beauty finally awakes,” Someone’s voice says and I realize the uncomfortable pillow is someone’s chest.  I quickly sit up-which doesn’t help the headache-and see that Harry is lying in my bed.

"Harry? What are you doing here?" I say groggily.

"You don't remember last night do you?" He smiles a bit.

"Oh god, what did I do?" My imagination rushes at the possibilities.

"Nothing that bad really. You just got really, really drunk so I took you home. You went to your bedroom and when I was going to leave you asked me to stay," He shrugs.

"Oh, well, umm. Thanks for staying with me," I say and blush, embarrassed that I got so drunk.

"No problem. I wasn't going to stay all night but I fell asleep,"

"Well, thanks," Our bodies are still entangled and after a moment of silence it gets really awkward. "Do you think maybe I could get up now?"

"I don't know... I'm pretty comfortable," He smirks. I have to smile back but I roll my eyes at his stubbornness.

The pounding in my head seems to have died down, but it comes back again very suddenly, and going back to sleep now seems like a very good idea.

I shrug and lie my head back on his chest, snuggling even closer to his warm body. He seems surprised by my actions but quickly enough relaxes and his grip on my shoulder tightens a bit.

I'm just getting comfortable again when my bedroom door is thrown open and a very loud voice greets me.

"GOOD MORNING, PIPER!" I hear Riley yell, but refuse to open my eyes or even move.

"How was clubbing with-," She cuts herself off and I assume its because she had finally noticed Harry. I reluctantly pried open my eyes to see her mouth stretched into a smirk.

"I see I'm interrupting something," She turns to walk out of my room, but not before stopping and pointing directly at me. "You have to tell me EVERYTHING. Later,"

She shoots Harry a wink and I groan internally. God, she can be so annoying sometimes. I resume my comfortable position and can feel Harry’s heart beating through the fabric of his tee shirt.

Weird, it seems to be beating a little faster than normal.

I brush the thought away and continue to relax. If you ignore the jackhammer that seems to be shaking my skull, I could probably stay here forever.

Apparently, Harry doesn’t feel the same way.

“As much as I like this, I actually do have a job. Plus, the boys are probably wondering where I am,”

“But you such a good pillow,” I mumble against his chest with my eyes closed. When he chuckles I can feel the vibration against my cheek.

“Hey, this body is too rock hard to be a pillow,” He jokingly protests.

“Maybe I like things rock hard,” I say and them immediately regret it. Oh god, I really need to learn to think about exactly how dirty things sound before I say them.

I feel Harry tense up beneath me a little bit but then he just laughs.

“And maybe I, should get you drunk more often,” He says and then slowly lifts my arms from around my waist, then he lifts my body up and scoots out from underneath me. He places my body back down, surprisingly gently.
