I walked inside the juvenile with books in my hands because my anna called and said to buy books to learn for the boys.
I saw the three wardens sitting outside the classroom building. As I looked closely at them, I saw they were hissing like they got hit.
"Enna, engavathu viluthittingala?" I asked them, standing in front of them as they looked up at me.
"Atha unga anna kitta poi kelu," one warden said as I shrugged and entered the class.
"Ne keetathula vangitu vanthutta," I said, entering the class as I saw all the boys standing in height order, and anna leaning on the table. I set the books on the table and turned to the boys as I saw them looking terrified. My eyes automatically connected with Das, who was staring—sorry, glaring at me. I gulped and turned to anna.
"Dei enna da, veliya moonu peru nalla adivangunavunga maathiri irukanuga. Inga intha pasanga romba amaithiya irukanga, something wrong?" I asked my anna.
"Pasangala adicha thana thappu," my anna said as I realized what happened. I nodded my head in realization.
"Very proud of you," I said, patting his shoulder.
"Okay, boys," my anna clapped his hands to get the boys' attention. "First moonu line la irukavanuga, onkaluku ineme ivanga tha teacher," my anna said as my eyes widened, these boys were between 6 to 12 years old.
"Dei, ennada sollura?" I asked him.
"Enna vaathiyare unnala engala paathuka mudiyathunu un pondatiya paaka solluriya," one of the boys said, and I stared at him with an opened mouth. Then, I closed my mouth and took a step towards the boys.
"Dei, inga vaada," I called him as he walked to me proudly, as if he had won something.
"Un peru enna?" I asked him.
"Bottle Mani," that boy said. I put my hand on my lips and walked around him, looking at him as he became shy.
"En ippadi paakuringa?" he asked as I stopped and shook my head at him.
"Ennada, ivlo alaga ah iruka," I said. He suddenly became shy, a weakness of every child at this age.
"Aana enna mula tha illa," I said, hearing laughter from the group. I glanced at them and noticed Das's eyes.
"En en en, appadi solluringa?" Mani asked me.
"Pinna avan en anna enna paathu ava pondatiya nu sollura," I said to him as he realized and chuckled.
"Aana na sonnathu unma da, ne alaga iruka da paaka kutty, STR maathiri," I said, putting my hand on his shoulder.
"Akka, ennaku STR romba pudikum ka," he said in excitement as I looked up at my anna who is smirking at me.
"Appadiya, appo STR mathiri dance aaduviya?" I asked him as he nodded. Bottle Mani changed into Child Mani.
"Appo na paattu podura ne aadu," I said to him, then turned to other boys.
"Ennapa, ungaluku dance aada, paatu paada pudikatha?" I asked as they stared at me, but I saw hesitation in their eyes as they all turned back and looked at Das, as if they are asking for permission. I looked at Das, who is still staring at me.
Suddenly, one boy came forward, and then the boys looked at each other and came to me. I smiled at them.
"Seri, appo nengala," my anna said, pointing to the remaining boys. "Enkuda vanga, namma inspection polam," anna said as everyone's eyes widened, then followed my anna as the last to leave is Das. As I stared at him, I felt this familiar feeling. I took a deep breath, then looked down at 10- to 12-year-old kids. I smiled and interacted with them. They are still kids, so their innocence is easily shown to me. This is why anna gave me this job; he knew I'd handle the kids.
"Akka," I heard one boy call me as I turned to him.
"Sollu da," I said as he looked hesitant.
"Akkanu kupidalama?" he asked as I smiled at him.
"Kupidura," I said as he smiled brightly.
"Nenga avana aalaga irukanu sonniga, nanu alaga irukana ka?" he asked as I squished his cheek.
"Neenga semma alaga iruka da," I said to him.
"Appo akka nanu?" another boy asked.
"Nanu."
"Na?"
Everyone asked as I smiled at them.
"Nenga ellaru alaga tha irukinga, aana enna palla olunga velaki daily kulikanum," I said to them.
"Akka, na olunga tha pallu velakura aana," one boy said as boys next to him shook their heads.
"Enna?" I asked as they all shook their heads, and I sighed.
"Enna, unga vaila antha powder thinikurangala?" I asked them as they all looked down.
"Akka, ennaku athu suthama pudikala, aana Das anna adikuraru," that boy said as everyone looked terrified at the mention of Das's name.
"Seri, inga parunga, ineme nanu master yum irukom. Nenga payapada venam, seriya, antha Das apadi ethavathu panna na paathukura enkitta sollunga," I said to them.
