My phone went crazy as I took pictures of everything my eyes touched as the car journey dragged on. "Hey, hey, boss, pull over. I think there's an arcade just around the corner.
Ijichi chose not to respond, instead sticking to driving as cautiously as ever, always under the speed limit.
Leaning forward, I tapped his chair. "Bossman, what's the big deal? Can't we pull over for just ten minutes?"
Taking a longwinded sigh, Ijichi shook his head, trying to keep cool. "The mission takes priority. Gojo-Sensei has instructed that we head straight to the location and meet up with the other first years you'll be working with."
I sat back, raising an eyebrow. "I have to work with other chums? Gojo knows I can take on any cursed spirit alone, right? I thought that was already obvious going toe-to-toe with that Devil Hunter?"
Ijichi didn't respond, making me roll my eyes while looking through the photos. "What do you think, DK? Do I have a future in photography?"
"You've got your thumb over the lens." She points out, making me look closer. "Every one of them."
"You're kidding me," I whisper. "Bossman, we're turning back around. I messed up the picture!"
"I have a name; it is Kiyotaka Ijichi; you'd do well to remember it; I am the assistant Director to Tokyo Jujutus High, after all."
"Yeah, but like, I can't pronounce that."
DK appeared sitting shotgun, legs up on the dashboard. "So this guy thinks he's some hotshot, huh? I followed the rules, sticking to principles like a Boy Scout. Why don't we gut Kiyo and leave?"
"We're not gutting anyone, DK, not yet anyway."
"I'm sorry. Did I hear you say the cursed Spirit wants to gut me?"
"She was talking about someone else." I shut down, tapping my chair. "How many cursed spirits are we taking down today, DK? What's our record so far?"
"Ugh? 42?"
"Really, I thought it was 43?"
"44?" She returns, phasing through the seat, sitting next to me. "But come on, you can be serious with me. We're not actually sticking around playing school, are we? It will be more like a prison because that council worked against us."
"Don't worry, DK, we're a two-of-a-kind, and I've got the Ace ready."
Ijichi stopped the car, turning off the engine. "We're here."
"Finally, I really needed to piss," I shout, jumping out of the car and finding myself outside a detention centre. "Is this some kind of joke?"
Adjusting his glasses, Ijichi approached, looking at his phone. "Right on time."
I turned to see three other teenagers, all speaking in Japanese.
I couldn't understand any of them...
DK could only translate on person at a time. Looks like I'm on my own here.
Clearing my throat, I gave a small wave. "Good dentist appointment. I hope you all showered this morning. I am a wet dog who steals candy from babies. Would you like to see my post-stamp collection?"
Each stared blankly at me, clearly not understanding anything I just said.
"I guess my Japanese is still a little rusty..."
