Engraved footprints were left behind from my stroll along the beach. There were voices in my head and I didn't know what they were saying. What could be happening? What was Eywa trying to tell me? Everything was unclear, fuzzy...
Near the sea was where I placed myself down to rest. I put my hand on my forehead, a sigh escaped my mouth putting my knees to my chest. My other hand was sunken in the sand feeling its texture as it rubbed against my skin. The sand rustled behind me, someone was joining me.
"What is wrong ma Azula?" Spoke a familiar voice.
I darted my head around to see Khola approaching me.
Khola was the warrior I had been promised to. He was a year older than me. He was fierce and brave yet he was gentle and cared for everyone except sky people. It wasn't a bad pick from my mother and father. He was sweet yet I didn't feel ready for love yet. He plonked himself next to me swinging an arm around me. I rested my head on his shoulder sighing holding back tears that filled my eyes.
"What is wrong ma Azula? You know you can tell me," Khola asked as he rubbed my arm gently.
I took a deep breath, "the great mother confuses me ma Khola. She gives me so many signals at once, it's like an unsolved puzzle. Nothing adds up"
Khola pulled his arm away that was wrapped around me as he cupped my face with his two hands. Using his thumb he wiped a single tear that rolled down my face. I stared into his blue eyes as he smiled.
"The great mother is a confusing being isn't she? But you need to slow it down then think about and piece it all together." He finished off his speech like sentence with a kiss. It was short and soothing. His lips were always soft.
I smiled as I pulled away wiping my eyes with a little laugh. It was so stupid of me to get upset over one thing. But Khola was right. I should try the strategy whether I like it or not. I felt the soft skin on Khola's arm wrapped back around me, he rubbed my shoulder again. I was calm finally but something else disturbed me, it felt like we were being watch and I think Khola caught onto that already. I turned my head round slowly but no na'vi was to be seen. Rotating my head back round, I went back to looking out at the sea with Khola. He was so special to me he was just so perfect. Just so what's the word... handsome...
"It just doesn't make sense ma Khola, she expects many things yet I can't always complete them," I closed my eyes but then was disturbed by my fathers yelling. I rushed over with Khola to their marui hut seeing what was happening.
"Azula, where we're you? This boy has bonded with the outcast. Payakan!" By my fathers tone he sounded displeased.
I looked at Lo'ak disappointment on my face, "I had no say in this and I didn't know any of this" I argued back but with a gentle tone, "I accept any punishment..."
"If you didn't know anything about this then no punishment will be set Azula" my mother said as she walked over to me and Khola.
Khola greeted my mother in a happy tone before being excused. I stood there next to my mother listening. How could Lo'ak of done that? He heard our warnings, did he not? Now that was another thing on my mind. I clenched my fist trying my best not to shed a tear. My mother soon caught on and took me outside to have a word.
"What is wrong Azula? You are not your self" my mother held my hand looking into my eyes waiting for my response.
"It's nothing mother just watery eyes I suppose, after all I've been busy today" I told a lie.
"If you say so but if there's anything bothering you you know where I am", my mother said before going back to the marui hut.
I let out a big sigh, I didn't feel like standing here. I strode back to the beach. I felt the soft sand beneath my feet. I gazed up at the star lit sky letting it all sink in...
